lol you are correct I like Gore for his badass longevity I like Douglas for his talent evaluation but yes I’m mad at this combination of stupidity for NOT running your organization properly Focus on what matters Joe!!!!!!!! come on!!!!!
Must say I got a good lol out of this. I have some of the same feelings for Douglas in terms of not finishing off the tank but I'm not sure he had the power to do anything even if he wanted to. GM/HC need to be on the same page. Someone should have told the Jets 20 years ago.
We've all seen Gore the last 4-5 years with the Bills/Fins, a snail/2 yds and a cloud of dust, a compiler, didn't want him here....especially after Adams and Johnson looked so good
The Raiders game where Gore went out after 1 carry, Johnson and Adams combined for 178 yards. With NE giving up more on the ground than the Raiders i am hoping they can both go over 100 yds
First ballot H.O.D. Bound! Hall of Durability actually it's pretty remarkable given how beaten up he was BEFORE he even got to the NFL.
I kinda agree with this. He had a few really good years in Frisco, but when you look at his entire career, he is basically the Bert Byleven of the NFL. Deserves credit for being so durable and having such a long career, but was never truly DOMINANT at any point in his career....just nice and steady and due to his longevity, he was able to compile some pretty big numbers.
Compilers are underrated. I can't think of a single compiler who was hurt all the time, or was a shitty teammate, or blew calls, or missed assignments, or made bone-headed mistakes, or was out of position all the time, or couldn't remember the playbook.... I wish I was a compiler.
Tom Brady is a compiler, and plenty of folks call him the GOAT. I've seen individual games by guys like Favre that had more great passes than I've seen in Tom Brady's entire career. Shit, I've seen individual games by guys like Jeff George with more amazing passes than I've seen from Tom Brady in his career. Greatest Compiler of All Time, maybe.
Don't know if I agree with this. Brady's peak production years were very good QB years by any standard. To be a compiler I think your peak production has to be relatively low. The hallmark is the consistence and longevity. Brady has those too but his peaks were too high to be a compiler.
Levon Bell averaged 3.2 yards per carry last season. Gore this season was actually better then Bell last season and Gore is 10 years older and much slower. One thing people are not talking about with Gore's 16,000 rushing yards. He also has 3995 receiving yards. So he is only 5 yards away from 20,000 career yards. This season was a farce anyway so I'm really glad we got a chance to see him before he hangs them up. First ballot HOF.
I for one hope that part of the reason for Gase' firing was the fact that he put a players personal glory above younger players development. Ty Johnson being benched after a 100 yard game was an absolute joke. Josh Adams played well vs Raiders too and has barely been used since.
I agree with this. So far, Perine hasn't shown much explosiveness. I thought there were some opportunities for big runs in the Cleveland game, but he didn't explode through the openings quick enough. I think Bilal Powell, a similar back, looked quicker last year than Perine does this year. It looks like Johnson is the best of the bunch so far, but I'd like to see a lot more of Adams next week.
