EDIT - I am stupid and forgot in all my excitement that last night was Monday... The Jets playoff run starts on SUNDAY - DEC. 31, 2006!!! It doesn't matter what anyone else does next week. The Jets control their own destiny. If they win, they are in. Therefore our 2007 playoffs start a week early with a home game. If the Jets win, they advance...if they lose, they go home. Although it is a "regular season" game, IMO it is the first playoff game of the Mangini era. Lets hope the maintain the focus and poise they have had all year to take care of business. And lets all hope that the Jets fans are rocking like the "12th man" this team deserves next week.
Last 3 games have been playoffs games and we're 2-1 so far, albeit against non-playoff caliber teams.
I wouldn't say we have played non-playoff caliber teams. Minnesota has the best run defense in the league and we were able to move the ball against them on the ground. Miami has a very solid Defense and we played them in the rain and were able to move the ball against them on a few occasions. We played tough teams. I'm more worried about this upcoming game against a very terrible team. They need to be ready to play on Sunday.
I think the 'playoffs' started Week 1 @ Tennessee. Unlike other sports like baseball and basketball, every game counts in the NFL season. One game can make or break a teams chance to getting in the playoffs. But I do get your point. Obviously next week is a must win. I'm not too worried since we are playing Oakland, but I mean anything can happen. They can play really hard and try to spoil it for the Jets, making headlines that way. Or they can just say "F*ck It" and play the way they have all season. Their offense doesn't scare me, but the defense can get yah'. The Jets, I'm sure, are focusing on Oakland already. And that's good. That is the type of team that deserves to get into the playoffs.
