I am definitely excited for a full offseason of draft talk. But I can tell you this now and this won’t change. You cannot under any circumstance select Penei Sewell 2nd overall. OT n back to back years is not smart. Also, you have 2 choices, QB or trade back. QB has to be the number 1 option unless the Jets truly don’t like any prospect aside from Lawrence, which is highly unlikely.

Im not liking anybody else at #2 ......this isn’t a good year for having the #2 pick unless JD likes Wilson. .....Chase, Sewell, etc. those guys are good #4-7 type picks.

The Jets never seem to hit in right with the draft order according to year.

You pick Sewell whose a generational player in his own right and you don’t worry about the OL for 10 years. And you don’t do anything at QB. You get Sam a real number one WR and you give him a real chance. You do for him what Buffalo did for Allen. Guys running over guys, playing for his life cause the Jets surrounded him with nonsense. Then the wonderful fans turn on him because throwing to Berrios and handing the ball to a 37 year old back is what every young QB needs.

You're right but we shoot ourselves in the foot winning meaningless games. We'd hit on the draft order a lot more often if we didn't wait until the end of the year to start competing.

Miami has the Texans pick at 3rd in the draft and what scares me is they will try and trade down just like us so I would take a flyer on the WR from Alabama and the OL. Really see what's out there and if we can trade down and pick up some seconds along the way I am all for it but keep in the top 10.

If you pick Sewell you have to pay Becton and Sewell at the same time in just a few years. Do you honestly expect the Jets to have $40+ million in cap space dedicated to 2 tackles??

The market for top end tackles is now over $20 million. If both are good it is literally not possible to keep both for more than a few years together. Back to back OT is a huge mistake.

At least we have something different to look forward to this offseason. Usually we are trying to figure out how we are going to screw up the #6 pick.

Now we have to figure out how we are going to screw up the #2 pick. Thanks to the Jets for shaking things up a bit for us this year.

Literally the most gut wrenching season and we don’t end up with the best prospect in a decade or more.... fuck sakes.... JD really has his work cut out for him. His job went from easiest to hardest in 2 weeks time.

who wants to coach this team besides Rex Ryan... watch woody do it too... fuck I love Rex but that’s going to be a dumpster fire again...

Lets see who our next HC (after Gase gets fired) wants at #2.

I remember you were one of the first here to bring up Campbell as a possibility in 2018. I'd love it if we could lure him in. We need a program builder as the next HC.

    Draft Sewell or Trade out.

Decide whether Fields or Wilson on “it”. I love Wilson. Not sure about Fields but the OSU thing gets me nervous.

I would draft Sewell and roll with Darnold but sign quality backup. Surround Darnold with a new HC be talent and hope he’s better. If he sucks, we are likely drafting Top 10 again.

It's subject to change as I learn more about the candidates, but at this point my short list in order of preference consists of Brian Daboll, Arthur Smith, and Matt Campbell as the top 3. Others that should be under consideration and who aren't far behind my top 3 are (in order) Greg Roman, Eric Bieniemy, and David Shaw.

If I had to choose one right now, that would be tough, but I think I'd go with Brian Daboll. He's had success everywhere he's been, has worked under some good HCs, adjusts his offense to fit the talents of his QBs and players, and has a lot of experience. Arthur Smith is my 2nd choice. I'm a little nervous about his lack of experience as an OC, but he's been so great with the Titans, that I think he could be great. I like Matt Campbell a lot and would be very happy with him, but his lack of experience in the NFL is a concern. Greg Roman is similar to Daboll imo, but maybe not quite as good a candidate. It concerns me that Bieniemy has never called plays. He could pick the offensive system, maybe even design plays, but I wouldn't want him trying play calling for the first time as our HC. He would strictly have to be a CEO during games imo. I doubt that Shaw would have any interest, but if he does he would merit an interview.

Those that I would rather not get the job, but wouldn't be too upset if they did, and would hope for the best: Bill Cowher, Joe Brady, Robert Saleh, Wink Martindale, PJ Fleck, and Pat Fitzgerald

Those that I absolutely don't want and think that they'd be almost as bad as Gase: Jim Harbaugh, Doug Pederson, Bill O'Brien

I was all aboard the OT train this past draft but back to back tackles.... Idk. I think it's QB, Chase, or trade.

You just can't have this attitude because there are a trillion variables.

The Jets have an absurd amount of cap space and 9 draft picks with 3 in the top 35. This was the year to tank for a QB. Anything is possible and they may well pick top five again in 2022 but I wouldn't say it's likely and you can't count on that.

If JD and our new coach likes one of these QB's you've gotta take him at 2. We'll still have 8 other picks.

This is a great year to have #2 because there are so many options. 2014 was the last real bad year to have #2.

There's so much talent in this draft teams would likely be willing to trade up for if we don't want a QB. Or we can take Sewell and have the best young OT tandem in the league.

You pay both. First off neither gets big money for five years. Secondly so you pay big at that position. The world doesn’t end if you do that and we all learned how important OL is.

it was nice today as the game went on and chicago started pulling away from jacksonville to be able to root for the jets to win and beat that baker mayfield. 2nd pick it is. ill trust in the braintrust at this point as long as gase is gone next monday. if he isnt everyone can go f themselves.

That’s not how it works. Becton would have to get paid after 3 years of Sewell being there, and then you would have to let one walk because Sewell would be up for his payday the next year. You simply cannot pay two guys that much at one position. There is not enough money to go around.
