So many WRs open all day long all over the field and Sam failed to see/hit them.

I wasn’t implying that we skip drafting a QB at all in 2021 and waiting until 2022. No way.m they can afford to do that! They need a QB in draft pick regardless but my point is we could still draft a Jalen Hurts type or someone who is still available with the Seattle s first round pick and Jets 2nd rd pick regardless if we keep Darnold at the starter or the potential franchise QB.

The Jets drafted Hackenberg in 2016 (G-d knows why) and by the end of the season (probably the end of his 1st training camp) they knew he couldn't play. In 2017, they could have drafted Watson, who was an obvious talent, and should have, but didn't. That was the shot they should have taken but didn't. I don't think Mahomes was so obviously talented, but that's another discussion. When you have a shot at top QB talent and need it, you have to go for it. Those chances don't come around often.

If JD wants Wilson just stay put and take him. Don’t get cute....

Those are my sentiments exactly. We have 2 wins and no other team has less than 4 so win or lose next week we are drafting at #2. I'll consider the off season a success if we get rid of Gase and draft well, even if we don't go with a quarterback. Gase absolutely has to go - that's the #1 priority.

My hope is a team in the top 5-6 falls in love with either Sewell or Fields, they trade up to 2 and give us a few extra premium picks. We drop back a few slots and take Wilson in the 4-6 range. It's risky for sure but I would love to see what JD could do with 4-5 picks in the first 2 rounds.

Maybe Carolina loves Fields and wants to jump Atlanta thinking they'll take him. Also, I wouldn't be terribly upset if we miss out on Wilson and have to take Chase/Surtain/Parsons/etc. I like Wilson more than Fields at this point but he's far from the sure thing Lawrence is.

One thing is for sure, gonna be a lot of interesting debates over the next 4-5 months now that Lawrence is 100% gone.

I'm with you he has to be the pick for the Jets.

Looking at the current top 10 draft picks the teams that may opt for a QB are Atlanta #3 Detroit #8 Giants #9. Jets need to find out who Atlanta likes then decide. I don't follow college football so I have no idea who would fit the ATL system but looking at some projected rankings I see Lawrence, Fields, Trey Lance, Kyle Trask then Zach Wilson in order of ranking. If the Jets are set on Wilson there is no reason to take him with the 2nd pick, they likely can move to the middle of the 1st round and still get him while piling up draft picks for swapping out of the 2nd pick. If he's their guy I'm all for getting him and extra picks, just use the picks wisely.

That might be ideal but Wilson is not lasting too long on draft day. Then the Jets run the risk of another team offering a butt load of picks to move up and snag Wilson.

Yeah, we'll have our 80 year old runningback running behind him.

I like to say were improving but the supposed playoff teams we played the last two weeks both looked like dumpster fires. And suddenly all the calls are going our way. WTF? Sam clearly fumbled it.

Still glad we didn't draft Mayfield.

Very true. Like I said, it’s a risk. If JD loves Fields/Wilson, then we absolutely stay put at 2 and take whoever they prefer.

I’m just laying out my ideal scenario after the dream of still getting Lawrence has been ripped away from me lol

I get your point, but truthfully Sam had a couple of good throws that were dropped and one that Perriman could've extended himself to catch that were good passes. OTOH he had some poor passes too. He hasn't shown himself to be consistent, but there's been nothing consistent about his time on the team - coaching, system, personnel, etc. I agree they should draft a replacement, but if nothing else Darnold can be a decent backup and maybe increase his trade value.

Still, possible Belicheck throws their game against the Jets.

This is an easy scenario honestly.

    At #2, you either...

    1) Take a QB
    2) Trade Out

There can't be any other option there. Literally.

At this point, I’m rooting for a Jets win next week. Can’t hurt or help our draft position now. Might as well cheer for a win against the Pats.

It’ll be weird to actually root for a win now.

The gap between Lawrence and Wilson isn't as big as some would tell you.

Lawrence has played against better competition but he's also on a loaded team.

If it's not Lawrence or Wilson I don't think you take anyone else in the 1st.

Only other guy interesting is Ridder if he declares.

NCJ, who do you want the Jets to have on their short list. Give me your Top 3, or maybe Top 5 if you want a few long-shot college guys in the Final Five.

And who would you choose, if you could, right now ?
