If we want him, we’re gonna have to lose out and hope Jacksonville manages a win

I don’t see any other way

Remember why Eli didn't want to go to the Chargers: Dean Spanos and the team could not guarantee that they would remain in San Diego going forward. Eventually, they packed up.

There is talk about Jacksonville moving to London PERMANENTLY. Now, maybe if they get Lawrence it flips a switch among the locals and they sell out 75,000 seats for the next decade. But if not.....if with Lawrence the team STILL plays second fiddle to the University of Florida.....I could see the NFL moving them to Europe permanently.

And while it won't happen in a few years, Peter King and Mike Florio think it could happen by 2030 when TL will still be playing.

Yep, that could be a factor. Jacksonville and large parts of Florida could be under water by 2030 too. Then the real estate Lawrence would buy wouldn't be worth 2 cents.

Everything we've seen about Lawrence says he is a stand up guy that is not going to force anyones hand. Heck the caliber of his character is something I regret missing out on as much as his arm.

It is strange to see all the people trash the Jets give a free ride to the Jaguars, who make the Jets look like the Steelers by comparision.

All their stars wanted out....Coughlin was a cancer....the NFLPA warned FAs about going there....they regularly tarped the upper deck.

Trevor may go there but he may find he's Lebron in Cleveland -- the first go around.

Of course, if that happens in Florida, then NYC and the Meadowlands could be under water too.

Yeah this might be what hurts the most. Lawrence would've made us instantly relevant again as a franchise, the guy just oozes star power. We may well get a good QB at #2 but it's not going to do for the franchise what Lawrence would've.

We don't necessarily need star power, although since Lawrence is a very humble, team-oriented guy, it sure wouldn't hurt. We may still wind up with Lawrence, but even if not, maybe our star power will be at LT, WR, Edge and CB.

Our biggest hope, for those still hoping, is for the Colts to clinch WC this weekend and rest starters last game.

Their ownership has enough pull to do what it takes to do a mini tank of their own.

The Colts don't want to give Jacksonville the next Peyton Manning, not to mention it wouldn't have playoff consequences at that point.

So between the Bears playing away and a Colts team resting starters--that's two more times we have life support. Although unlikely because I'm convinced Khan fired Caldwell in purpose so he can control Marrone in sitting starters...

The Jets fucked up immensely & blew their shot at Trevor. Maybe we’ll get lucky(HA) and Jacksonville will return the favor(HA again) but barring some kind of miracle the Trevor dream is dead.

He’s not forcing his way anywhere and no GM is trading out.

Don’t the colts still have a good shot at the division?

Yes both the Bears and Colts will have something to play for vs Jags.

Jim Irsay is one sneaky SOB....I guarantee this is on their radar screen. They know they crushed other teams for years with Peyton and Luck...NO WAY they want Trevor in their division for 12-15 years.

This may be our only shot at TL.

Marrone has befriended Tony Khan, the son. Firing Caldwell was just to open up the GM slot who actually may decide to keep -- or fire -- Marrone.

But are there any circumstances where Indy has NOTHING to play for in Week 17 vs. Jax ?

It's definitely not worth trading up for Lawrence. The Jets have too many needs to make that kind of gamble right now. A big part of Darnold's issues in NY are due to 3 missing high 2nd round picks from the teams he has played on here.

Anyone who thinks Douglas would trade up for Lawrence - actually for anyone - hasn't been paying attention. He wanted Becton more than he wanted the other Ts last year but he still didn't try to trade up. It's not part of his method.

Can't believe how badly we screwed this up - crappest season in memory and we still miss out on the one blue chip prospect we need - SOJ

At halftime on week 17, if the Titans are leading by multiple scores against the Texans then maybe the Colts could pull starters. The Titans and the Colts would have to both win this week to set that up. Either team losing would be bad.

Another scenario is if the Dolphins and Ravens lose this week, and the Browns win, then win or lose against the Jags Indy will be guaranteed the 6th spot. Only a Titans loss would give them something to play for.
