I would bet money that the Jets will draft a QB with their 1st pick. Either Lawrence, Fields or Wilson.
Funny, I was actually just thinking Jax wins Sunday and we beat The Pat's week 17 and give back the #1 pick.
I still think Jacksonville can beat Chicago this week. They are 7 point dogs. Remember, the players don't give a rats ass about Trevor Lawrence and want to win. The following week they play indy. Not sure if the game will change there wild card spot or if it means anything for them. If it doesn't, Rivers and many starters will sit. I think there is about a 50 percent chance they win one of the next 2. Get your popcorn
What team in the NFL needs a qb more than us? Nobody.... Yet we are trading out of the number 2 position and getting what? What vet is going to make a difference for us? JD needs to draft his QB, the one that defines his first GM job in this draft. The training wheels are off and he has a premium pick to do so.
No to Dak or Wentz. Dak is a one legged QB at the moment riding the franchise tag hoping for a huge contract. He's Cousins 2.0 with a bad leg. Who's gonna throw money at that? Wentz never impressed me, even during the SB season. Just the fact that Foles could step in and they win a Championship tells me it was an extraordinary team effort, not the FQB leading the way.
Jacksonville lol. Tampa Bay, Indy, Atlanta have aging QBs. Stafford in Detroit is getting up there and not great. Arguably Chicago. Washington.
He was very productive in Tampa and would probably dirt cheap. With that said we really should find an experienced QB with upside that can come in here and compete with Sam for the starting job.
Count me in if JD stays with Sam for another year. Rams game was the first game this season where I saw Sam stand in the pocked and trust is Oline. And it paid off. Sam's passes came out crisp, and he made the right decision all game long. Gase called the perfect game to keep Sam upright, against the leagues top defense. Can it continue? Will JD keep Sam to find out? I just don't see it. Sam's due to be paid and he hasn't earned it. I think JD will have to decide on Sam's 5th year in May of this year. So if Sam stays, JD will have to sign off on his 5th year too. That's a HUGE gamble I don't see JD taking. JD may try and get Sam to take a new, low-ball contract (with incentives). But.....nah. Second, Sam is McCagnan's guy. If we strike lightening and win it all, it will always be mentioned the JD won with Mac's team. That's big for GMs. They want THEIR guy to win it all, not the last GMs guy. I don't know how ego driven JD is, but between the cap and Mac, I think JD will get his own guy if at all possible, especially at the start of a massive rebuild.
Trade the 2nd pick and get an extra pick or two and can still get a Hebert type pick later in the 3rd round.
Agreed. I like Winston as a player but he needs to be at a franchise with an established culture and coach and structure. He can still be a productive quarterback in that environment. That's not here. It's also a bit alarming that they opted to roll with Taysom Hill over him but I think that's more of Sean Payton being an arrogant douche than an indictment on Winston.
Yeah, he was very productive for the other team and cheap. Those are the two main traits that we should want in our next starting QB. SMH
What? His 5th year option is 25m and that is too much and You're throwing figures around like 100m and 40-50m guaranteed lol Please do not ever become a GM of the Jets. 10m a season max for what he has shown on the field and that is still generous.
