If I didn't put them on here then they'd be cut or released in order to make the cap numbers work. The secondary and defense would certainly go through growing pains, but we can't try to patch work everything in free agency. The offense around Lawrence and making sure he's supported would be the number one priority.

Considering how well Ashtyn Davis has played it seems like you are throwing a lot of money at safety.

He's played ok, I wouldn't say he's played well. Marcus Maye is one of our top 3 players. Who starts at the other safety spot if we let him walk? Addae is just a veteran backup.

We need to retain some of our players. We can't just let every veteran walk away because they're not 22 years old. He's the glue to the what will be a young secondary that has unspectacular corners and virtually $0 relative tied up. Next year would be the play to draft a corner high as Maye enters the last year before we cut him or decide to keep him for year 3.

    I'd draft a K in rounds 5-7.

I would too I just don't know a ton about any of em. Insert a kicker where CB TJ Carter was drafted would probably make more sense.

I'm starting to lean towards Brian Daboll. It's hard not to notice Josh Allen's upward progression from raw rookie with massive accuracy problems to top 5 in MVP voting.

The adjustments they made yesterday were fantastic. They couldn't move the ball or get any receivers open. Allen was under siege in the first half. So they added protection by putting more tightends on the field and keeping the runningbacks in. They tried attacking the Steelers short to combat that and it didn't work. So they max protect and sent Diggs into the middle of the field and threw a bunch of (unsuccessful but effective in the strategy) deep balls to Davis to loosen the corners up.

I like Bienemy. He seems like a great guy and probably a good coach. But Mahomes/Reid run an excellent offense with or without him. Maybe he takes everything he's learned and puts it into action. But Daboll is the sole guy behind that offense with a defensive CEO type coach similarly from the Andy Reid tree.

The lack of running game this year is a bit concerning. But they've shuffled their offensive line a lot and have unspectacular tackles so it's somewhat expected.

    Kick-ass dude--thanks for posting this.

I feel like we can keep Perriman at a value--he, Mims, and Godwin would be a sweet setup for TL.

I'd love to see Kolar come in with his current coach as our HC. Never gonna happen tho, right?

Would like to see us improve from Edoga and Van Roten but maybe in 2 years.

Kolar adds another element because he's a big body and a willing blocker. He's not the fleetest of foot but he'd help a young QB a lot down the seam.

He's had a down year compared to what was expected out of him and I think he'll slide assuming he runs in the 4.8/4.9 range.

You're right on Edoga and GVR. There's just not enough picks to go around unfortunately. Edoga is got awful. I forgot Clark too actually so he'll be on the squad as a backup T/G.

Jaycee Horn from South Carolina (Joe Horn's son) is my guy. But I doubt he gets to our second first round pick. He will be a shutdown NFL corner. Outside of that, next year is a very strong year in the draft for corners. It'll have to wait a year while we fix the rest of the team. And will be covered up by good safety play and an improved pass rush/core of blitzing linebackers for the time being.

Not a ton of free agent corners I'd want to break the bank for. But it's an option if we don't sign a guard (Blythe) and roll with Elflein as the starting LG.

I like that idea. If we're going the OC route, I think it's essential to make sure we're getting the guy who's actually responsible for his offense's success.

It was @MaximusD163 idea first so I don't want to steal his thunder too much. But I like the idea more than Bienemy at this point.

I think Hall with more experience can become a #2, but we need a #1 for sure. There's a Clemson CB mocked to us in the 2022 draft on this site, don't know much about him. https://www.lines.com/nfl/drafts/2022?utm_source=draftsite&utm_medium=301

FWIW, Clemson has produced Mullen who looks like a rising star and Terrell who I liked.

Bienemy isn't coming here regardless. he's going to wherever dorsey gets hired as a GM. likely landing spot for both right now is houston.

Good mock! I won't try to pick apart your effort...I haven't spent enough time studying the potential draftees and FAs, but seem to addressed the areas that I would focus on, so that's the main thing. I wouldn't complain if Daboll is the next HC, but I prefer someone who has been a HC, at least in college, and been successful. The top of my list has Cowher if he would come here. I agree with the concerns about Bienemy, and don't think he'd come here anyway.

I like a lot of that. Sam for a 5th though? TRIGGERED! :D He is worth a lot more than that. If that is all the Jets can get for him, he should remain on the roster in 2021.

Ha thanks for the credit. There are a number of reasons I like Daboll but with a strong likelihood that the Jets will be starting a rookie QB, the development of Josh Allen is a nice track record. Daboll’s first year was Allen’s first year so it also shows he built a system around him vs having one already in place, which I would like to see with the Jets next rookie. I also like the idea of hiring in-division in this situation. Daboll has knowledge of Belichick from his time in New England, knowledge of Josh Allen and Sean McDermott from Buffalo, knowledge of Brian Flores from their mutual time in New England, and knowledge of Tua Tagovailoa from his time at Alabama. That’s a lot of intimate knowledge of division rivals.

I guess my mock offseason starts with changing my user name. Again. For I think the 4th time since the early 2000s because all players were traded or released. Maybe I'll just stick with a team-centric name so at the very least there's a shot of the entire franchise folding and never existing again.
