Matt Waldman is legit and deeply knowledgeable about the nuances of great play at the skill positions.

So, what does he say in the 56 minute video? :)

Thanks! I've been looking for more tape on Lawrence, so much appreciated.

And in no way to downplay your contribution here, but I do have to make a couple of criticisms:

    1. Too much blabbering. Using too many words, and not letting the "picture" tell the story. I get it...analysts are supposed to interject their expertise, and when it's done well it makes all the difference. I mean I'm not an expert, so that's what I'm looking for. But these guys were just going on and on, and sometimes not even about the play. In one section Mark uses what seems like 2 minutes to build up a disclaimer about his hating the use of comparisons, and then goes on to compare Lawrence to Luck. Who cares? Just make a quick aside like "Here's where Lawrence reminds me of Luck in how he keeps both hands on the ball", and then get back to breaking down the play. I started fast forwarding after that.

    2. They had hardly anything negative to say. Okay, maybe Lawrence is perfect, but I doubt it. I'm not saying they should've trashed him or made things up, but they certainly cherrypicked the plays they highlighted. I'm sure they could've found a few that displayed where he might need some work.

Those things aside, this film did give me a chance to really see Lawrence in great detail, and despite my criticisms, they did a good job of pointing out these finer things (I just wish they could've done it more succinctly LOL!).

Here's what I took away from this:

Lawrence has great mechanics and footwork. When he throws, even under pressure, or on the move, he's almost always lined up perfectly to where he's targeting, and he gets his weight forward into the throw. That leads to:

He has great accuracy, in the pocket, on the move, under pressure, which is aided greatly by:

He has great arm strength - supported by his great mechanics - which allows him to thread the needle and beat defenders trying to break up passes. It's not quite Mahomes or Allen level arm strength, but it's close enough.

And this tape shows him going through progressions, and using his eyes and head movement to look defenders off and freeze guys.

All of this wouldn't mean much though if he didn't show a feel for the game, and watching this many plays in detail, coupled with other film I've seen, shows me that Lawrence has that "feel".

Bottom line: I'm confident that Lawrence is as "can't miss" a QB prospect as I've seen since Mahomes. This isn't to say that maybe Fields is right there, and/or Wilson from BYU, but I haven't seen enough of them to make that determination yet. But if the Jets get the #1 pick, they shouldn't over think it, and they should absolutely take Lawrence IMO, and not trade back for any amount of "treasure".

Thank you CC. This is an excellent summary. I hope we end up with him. Worst case, he will be our Matt Ryan. With the right coaches and right GM we can make the Superbowl and hopefully win it.

This is no complaint or anything negative about Donttasemebro or his posting the video, but I couldn't possibly agree more about the wasted time and all the unnecessary jabbering. I just started fast forwarding after they showed each play a time or two and I knew what they were going to point out about Lawrence's play on each of the clips.

I don't think Mahomes was "can't-miss" or else he would have gone #1 overall. There were LOTS of questions about him coming from an Air Raid Offense.
