Would you still be a loyal fan? I don't know they're so awful now and I'm sure the city would try and get an expansion team. The Jets name should stay. Or better yet if they just change the whole thing unis, name. I might see where they are going.
Honestly, I have no idea. I'd probably still root for them because I'm a sick in the head and enjoy constant disappointment.
If the Johnsons folded up their tent and moved the team out of state, I'm pretty sure the League would allow another team to move into their slot. I wouldn't have a problem if the Johnsons left town and took the circus with them.
As crazy as it sounds don't ask me why don't ask me how ... I can't understand it. in a season of nothing but losses and heartache I look forward to the games and get excited somehow week in and week out. so yes I would still follow the team.
The truth is we all know the answer ... because growing up watching the games as a kid, you can't help but love them till death.
It's kind of like that terrible relationship that you've invested so much time and money into, kids xcetera you just can't leave.
Only if they ahem 'move' to New Jersey, although it is easier in theory to keep up with a team that moves out of town than it would be in say, 1960.
If I still watched football - which would be a major decision - I'd probably switch to the Giants. The point is to watch football on Sunday and that means watching a team you have local access too or paying a silly amount of money to watch them on an all access plan. I'd go for the former in a heartbeat. #cordcutter #freeloader That said, the branding to a locality really makes less and less sense with every year that the internet makes us more global and less local. If I bought the Jets the first thing I would do is rebrand them as The Jets. Branding them as the NY Jets when they actually play in New Jersey and that's where the facilities are and that's where most of the players live is pretty silly.
On another thread, I said I would always remain a Jet fan. The one condition I neglected to mention was that as long as they continue to stay in NY/NJ. The one exception might be if the Jets moved to Oakland. My son and his wife live in Oakland and they just had our first grandchild, so the wife and I are contemplating moving out there to be closer to them. However, if the Jets move to Oakland (or any other city) and I don't follow, then no.
Can't consider crossing that bridge until I come to it, but not a Sunday passes when I don't miss Leon Hess.
Don’t think it would ever happen, as NY can easily support 2 teams, and no other city could equal that. New owner would be dumb to move out of NYC area. Maybe new stadium in city rather than NJ. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Moved to NYC sure, otherwise fuck this team if they leave the area. Not rooting for the Rhode Island Jets lol
My thoughts. Jets are my team due to New York. If they become Columbus Jets or something, fuck them. But no owner is idiot enough to take a team out of New York in this modern ages.
The only way this would happen is if they move to London. If that does happen, I would hope the NFL would rule that the team name "Jets" has to remain with the new NY franchise. London can call the carpetbaggers whatever they want. Maybe we should hold a naming contest for them here! The UK posters could come up with candidate names and we could all vote.
I understand this season sucks and there's not a lot to talk about. But we're in the biggest media market in the world. The world. Where would the NFL ship this team to that makes any sense? But yeah I'd still be a fan but probably less of one.
No. I root for the New York Jets. If they were to become another city's team I'd stop following them and more than likely stop following the NFL entirely.
