wut? I didn't say that it was an out. I said that Sam should have thrown the ball to the outside (towards the sideline) instead of towards the center of the field.

In retrospect there are quite a few QB’s in this league that have thrown to the wrong side, however that always depends on the route being run as well. You and I have no inside information on that one. Do agree that the coverage was so tight that it. Ever should have been thrown.

In regards to Perriman, both announcers, my brother, and myself all said his lack of effort in trying to play a little defense was apparent.

A positive outcome was at least Williams is gone.

I definitely thought Perriman didn't give 100% on that play and could have done better in terms of preventing the DB from making a play on it. That said, it was still a poorly directed throw, unless of course Perriman was supposed to come back inside, but we will never know that.

The bigger issue I had with Perriman on that play was his lazy route running...it seemed like he was jogging, like he never expected the ball to be thrown his way. As for Darnold, it wasn't the worst pass he's ever thrown, but it was a great example of his inaccuracy, and why we need to move on from him.

What really sucks on the int play, is that he had Crowder wide open on the left side. I know it was a quick pass, but it seemed like Sam was forcefully trying to spread the ball. He didnt want the Defense to think he was always Locke on Crowder, but you have to take what the defense gives you. Also sometimes you have to keep going to your hot hand man.

The positives were the RBs looked good, found a couple of nice lanes opened by the Oline.

I don't know why these stale, hashed over sentiments needed its own thread but whatever...the "buzz" about Gase being some sort of savant at the time of his hiring was hardly universal. Carrying Peyton Manning's jockstrap doesn't count.

here is a sobering thought: on the sunday game, they showed a graphic of the 5 first round qbs in the draft 3 yrs ago.

3 of them are excelling. the only two that aren't are the ones from USC and UCLA.

i did not like choosing another usc qb before the draft.

the fact that Lawrence is NOT from so cal is another plus, as far as i am concerned.

The idea of not taking a QB because he comes from a type of college that usually fails is what caused teams to pass on Mahomes.

True. I wouldn't totally rule it out, but I would certainly view any future QB from CA with great skepticism. His video footage would have to blow me away and be raved about like Lawrence.

Aaron Rodgers is from CA, but played at Cal.

The UCLA QBs who have played in the NFL are:

    Bob Waterfield
    Troy Aikman
    Steve Bono
    Gary Beban
    Billy Kilmer
    Cade McNown
    Tom Ramsey
    John Sciarra

There may be others. There wasn't a source that listed UCLA QBs who played in the NFL. I didn't have the time or interest in scouring the second source, but others may be found there.

USC QB who have played in the NFL are:

    Matt Barkley
    Paul McDonald
    Cody Kessler
    Pat Haden
    Matt Leinart

In particular Becton and Elflein combined to create huge holes. It seemed to me this is the first game in which the Jets chose to run behind Becton. Previously, I had been scratching my head wondering why most of the runs were not taking advantage of Becton's enormity. Frankly, I don't think there's a D player in the league who can handle Becton one on one in run blocking. Yes, he did give up a sack that resulted in a turnover, but overall this year, his pass blocking has been good and will only get better. I think he's on his way to greatness.

This was kind of tongue in cheek because I last 2 haven’t done so well.
