We have a regular edition but wanted to make 2020 Holiday season fun with the story from 1999 edition.

This story involves the cities of London, England and Tehran, Iran.

It also involves the story of Brook! being held at Tehran airport by Iranian police and an entire flight of Iran Air from Tehran-London being delayed more than 3 hours.

    More to come later.

    Let me tag some folks who I think might be interested in rest of the story. @abyzmul @FJF @Cman65 @Petrozza @CBG @donkey @K'OB @Leicester Jet @ConcordeChops @Jonathan_Vilma @GreenFan15J @matt robinson 17 @zace @Acad23 @Ralebird @Dierking @stinkyB

Not really. National Anthem obsession before sporting events belongs to a few freaks like you.

Keep taking my words out of context. I said playing national anthem before sport events was Nazi type thing. Looks like you are butthurt about it. You are obsessed with it and you keep bringing this up at every post. Consider this your last warning. You bring this up again and I will ban you for a year. Go fuck yourself now and leave this thread alone.

I love it when the kinder, gentler Brook goes all jihad on some fool.

So shall I continue with the story or no?

It was March 1999 and Brook was in Tehran for two weeks and was on his way back to London....

It was like any other Middle Eastern airport. I also was at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia airport in 2002. I give the edge to Tehran Airport.

    Okay let me start.

I was an intern in UK. I was staying with my cousins in London. Edgware to be exact. North London. Affluent neighborhood.

My aunt is married to an Austrian engineer who works for a French oil company. He is working in Tehran office in 1999. My aunt raised me so I am like son to her. In March 1999 I had a 2 week break. I decided to visit her and her husband in Iran.

I still remember. Iran Air was charging 380 GBP for a return ticket to Tehran back then. I just had the money.

So I get the ticket from Iran Air and fly to Iran.

On my way, something is weird. All hostesses are wearing head scarf. No alcohol on the flight.

Well I land with my Turkish passport. Iran and Turkey don't require visa. As long as you have a Turkish passport you can enter Iran.

So I enter Iran without any problems.

I spend 2 weeks in Tehran. I visit Swiss embassy where Americans were held hostage. I visit Humeyni's grave, I visit Shah Reza Pehlevi's palace. Great 2 weeks.

I also drink like crazy every night. In Iran, back then, if you were foreign citizen, it was legal to drink at your own home. So my aunt's husband would buy whisky for himself and beer for me.

So I drank every night in Tehran and was extremely happy in the streets during the day. I saw a street where Iranian boys and girls were freely flirting while Iranian police (Pasdar) were controlling the environment. Truly weird experience. Romance under fascist regime.

My 2 week vacation ended, my aunt dropped me to Tehran airport to board the London flight. I have Turkish passport, British visa and I am returning from Tehran to London.

    Somehow somebody didn't like it.

They grabbed me and put me in a room. I waited for 3 hours. Then they took me out. They said who the fuck are you? Why are you flying to London on Iran Air with a Turkish passport. Are you spy. I said no. I am just a student doing my internship in London visiting my aunt. They call my aunt and her husband. They come to airport to vouch for me. Some more back and forth, they call Iran embassy in London tell them I am coming to London etc.

Finally they let me board the plane.

I board the plane with looks of angry passengers. Apparently everybody else was sitting in the plane for hours waiting for me. They don't know what the heck is going on.

Well, we land to London. Of course we are a delayed flight thanks to me. Plane can't get a door to deplane. We get dropped in the middle of the airport with a bus carrying us to tarmac.

People still angry at me. I am wearing a funny brown British hat by the way.

    Well, an eventful day.

That's my airport story. Can't compare with original Airport thread but here you go.

I must say, I was expecting more. No mistaken identity, no surveillance videos, no leg irons, bright lights and interrogations?

Awesome summary. But dude, I was questioned by Iranian security forces. Didn't you read or watch "Not without my daughter"?
