They are losing with sincerity. They want their jobs and could care less about a draft pick next season. There are a couple of bright spots noticeable. Just remain "Jet-ish" please!
The players don't tank. That isn't the true mark of a tank though. Tanking is when you are clearly giving away talented players for draft picks in HOPES that you will end up picking in the top spot. The very clearly tanking New York Jets have traded away: Jamal Adams- All-Pro Avery Williamson- Very solid veteran middle LB Steve McClendon- Clear Veteran Leader of Team They also admittedly let Robbie Anderson walk in free agency...they misjudged his "market value". What exactly do you think tanking is/looks like because this is the definition.
I'm referring to the remaining player on the roster as per my post. A player cannot control the actions of the front office. "They couldn't care about next season's draft". That would be the players, would it not? BTW....Adams was a locker room potential dumpster fire. They got a good deal for him. McClendon is 34, they figured him to leave at season's end, and they'd get nothing. He left they were 0-7, going nowhere. Williamson will be missed. WIN NEVER FOR TREVOR
Tanking never has anything to do with the player’s effort or intention. It’s strictly in regards to the organization’s decisions. So making a thread about not tanking and then pointing to the players is nonsensical.
This kind of feels like Nathan Peterman's rookie debut. Can he bounce back and be a contributing poster? Stay tuned.
I totally agree--I do NOT regret the Adams trade. As you said, he was a locker room cancer, calling out the organization on social media. The jets got a king's ransom for him, and just this last week he got burned for a TD and then late in the game committed a critical penalty on 3rd down keeping buffalo's offense on the field. They then scored an insurance TD to ice the game. Glad he is gone!
I respectfully disagree. To begin with, Douglas had no plans or desires to trade Adams that we know of. Everything he said was that he wanted to and planned to re-sign Adams. Adams forced his way out, so that blows your reasoning out of the water. McLendon wasn't going to be back next year and the Jets are rebuilding. Why not give McLendon a chance to finish his career on a high note, and get something for him? The same thing applies for Avery Williamson. It made no sense to keep either for the remainder of the season. Williamson wasn't playing that much or that well for us anyway. With the picks he got for McLendon and Williamson, at a minimum, he can help improve STs. He might even be able to add a decent backup or use one or both picks to move up to take a player he really covets. With the picks we got for Adams, the rebuild can be greatly done more quickly. It has nothing to do with tanking imo.
Lets not forget before the season JD had the cap space to bring in another impact player and sat on it. Our cap space was great next season so that is a total tank move by a GM. I've seen Gase coaching more than I ever wanted to and can almost guarantee the calls he made in the 4th quarter were out of character to purposely let NE have a chance. If this is true this should worry all of us. If JD and Gase have a plan to tank for the #1 pick then that almost certainly means Gase returns next season.
How much do they care less? A number 2 pick or a 5th rounder It is they COULDN'T care less or it makes absolutely no sense to what you actually want to convey.
Yeah this is the right take imo. They're tanking to the degree any NFL team can tank. Stripping the roster of talent and stockpiling draft picks. Coaches still want to win and players want to play well.
