SoS for Jacksonville can go up -- and Jets go down -- based on the teams we've already played and the teams for each team to play going forward. It's very fluid. It might be possible to see the RANGE going forward for the SoS, though you might not know the exact number.
I don't think we'll be able to catch Jacksonville in terms of SOS tiebreaker, and here's why... • The Jets have had the 6th toughest SOS thus far (9 games). • The Jaguars have had the 27th toughest SOS thus far (8 games). ✓ Huge Advantage goes to JAX as of right now (+21 differential for Jax). ______________________________ • The Jets have the 8th toughest remaining SOS moving forward (7 games). • The Jaguars have the 2nd toughest remaining SOS moving forward (8 games). ✓ Small advantage goes to our Jets moving forward (+6 differential for NYJ). ______________________________ I don't believe that there is any chance, whatsoever, that Jax can have a tougher SOS than our Jets throughout 2020 (by the end of the year); meaning that we'll never be able to beat them in a tiebreaker ala we must finish a full 1.0 games back of them.

Let's assume the Jets gain SoS advantage going FORWARD based on your analysis. What we need is for the teams that we have played (and lost to) to start LOSING and for the teams that Jacksonville played (won and lost) to start WINNING -- and that can turn the SoS into our favor. I don't know if it is mathematically possible, based on the remaining schedule of the teams we have played to date and Jax has played to date. It might be impossible for all our opponents past and future to lose (they may play one another) and it might be impossible for Jax opponents past and future to win (they may play one another).....but if our opponents start losing and Jax' get "hot" -- it could turn.
Nice job, Brook...that's good stuff !! You probably did it based on "most likely" at this point in time. However..... Can you run that again but this time give the Jax opponents going forward a bunch of wins that are borderline or "likely loss" in most/some/all cases ? Reverse it for the Jets opponents....turn likely Wins for our opponents into losses. See if the SoS narrows or turns in our favor.
Brook.....Cincy, Chargers, and Texans have all played tough to-date and I can see them each winning 3-5 games the rest of the year. With that extra playoff spot, Chargers and Texans aren't even done yet on that front.
Here is how I breakdown the Jets and Jaguars remaining schedules: Jets (0-9): Winnable Games: -Chargers -Dolphins -Raiders -Browns -Patriots Likely Losses: -Seahawks -Rams Jaguars (1-7): Winnable Games: -Browns -Vikings -Bears -Colts Likely Losses: -Packers -Steelers -Ravens -Titans So it is really a toss up, and if they end up tied the Jaguars get the #1 pick, right? So the Jets could be looking at Justin Fields more than Trevor Lawrence in the end.
I don't think we have a realistic chance of beating either the Dolphins or the Raiders, and maybe not the Browns.

Can you imagine if the Jets finally get it right, tank the year, get #1, and pick Lawrence... ...and Fields goes on to become the franchise QB star out of the two?
