Gase is obviously a great salesman, prolly a great interviewee He can sell himself very effectively to the higher-ups who have never played football And he let Peyton call his own plays, which Peyton rewarded by giving Gase credit Without the Peyton recommendation, his con doesn’t work very well If he goes 0-16 or 1-15 or 2-14, the Peyton rec loses some more shine and maybe, just maybe, Gase can’t talk himself into another NFL job
Yeah...I can’t imagine he’d get another HC job after going 0-16 or even 1-15 if anything, he’d have to go be an OC for a while to rehabilitate his image. Or go take a college HC job... of course...there is still a chance that our clueless owners believe his BS about injuries and COVID and keep him on next year after all...the Browns retained loser Hue Jackson after an 0-16 campaign, so there IS that much stupidity in the ownership ranks, clearly. And if there’s a stupid decision to be made, you can bet your house that Woody and Chris will be at the front of that line. My fear exactly. But the positive side of me thought about it in a different way. Maybe Woody has seen his poorly run franchise get ever worse while oversees and basically has told CJ not to make one other important decision until his (Woody's) future is determined after the election. Maybe Woody wants to end the Gase era personally and be their to manage the transition, rather than have CJ fire Gase now, possibly dick up even the transition to an interim HC and what would essentially be the start of the hiring process of the next HC
Yeah, I think there's a strong possibility that Woody told CJ, "Wait until I get back and I can fire Gase. That way it gives you some cover, and you don't have to publicly admit you were wrong, or retract your "I still believe Gase is a genius" comment". OTOH, until he's fired, he's still here and still the HC and that doesn't give me any hope.
Feels like any day now the Jets will announce Gase has an ownership stake in the team. Honestly worried Gase has convinced the Johnsons hes the guy and the talent on the team isn’t up to snuff. Agreed CC. And he really may not want a coaching search started without him if there is a chance he is back here running the team. No matter how the election goes, he still could be back here in January regardless. The second you move on from Gase, your coaching search starts with college coaches not working, candidates not in jobs etc. Does anyone here want CJ anywhere remotely near that process? Eh. You don't need the owners to sell though. I see this posted a lot and wasn't the same thing said about Leon Hess? They just need to bring the right football people in. Look how bad the Bungles were in the 90s, the 49ers and Rams in the mid 2000s (Rams into the 2010's), the Cardinals in the 1990s and early 2000s, etc. Were there any ownership changes there? Brown family has owned them forever, although they are still extremely cheap and an argument can be made that that is a reason they never win anything still. 49ers kinda, Jed York took over late 2000s and his involvement is a reason why they have had more improvement both on the field and off the field with the building of Levi Stadium and he even has also ceded half ownership to successful businessman Gideon Yu since 2012 Rams yes. Stan Kroenke took over ownership in 2010. Although he did move the team so fuck him Cardinals no. Bidwell has owned them forever but like the Bengals, that might be why they never win anything.
2000-2010 wasn't a bad stretch for the Jets. Longest playoff drought was 2 years and there was hope going into many years. To this day, I wonder how 2004 ends up if Brien makes either FG attempt late in regulation at Pittsburgh. The Pats were great, but we made them sweat it out in the Foxboro game that year.
not NFL as far as I know Herm failed here then at KC then went to the broadcast booth for a while before taking a college HC job but I’m not sure any guy gets a THIRD HC gig....I’d have to go look. Romeo Crennel did but only as an interim guy... Gase never should have been the hire coming off the shit show in Miami...and it’s not just on the field...he was a prickly guy who alienated players in Miami...that off field stuff alone should have been enough of a red flag, but you know...Jets!
actually Kroenke brought them back to LA and a new stadium, where they never should have left, so not sure why the hate for him there....I’m a Jets fan but I’ve lived in LA fir a long time, and I didn’t like that they left to go to St Louis in the first place

Was it Crack? Was it Meth? Was it bathsalts? I have no idea but all I know is that he was impaired and seriously on something serious; because I'm sorry but your eyes don't look like that for nothing. Does the NFL not drug test coaching staffs? Because I don't understand how A.) He wasn't drug tested immediately following his first Jets presser. B.) Immediately sent to rehab following his positive drug test for narcotics and C.) Immediately fired faster than Bill Belichick quit on our Jets. The man looked like a full blown junkie @ a Florida gas station begging for spare change and as a Jets fan watching his introduction press conference I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing (his eyes) and I could only imagine what our players were thinking to themselves while watching that embarrassing embarrassment of a press conference. And when Chris Johnson had the nerve to compare him as a coach to Wayne Gretzky the player?!? I told myself CJ was on drugs too. That crap was hard to watch.
