The Jets being 0-7 without firing Adam Gase, who ruined their current QB, will have that affect on people.

Maccagnan ruined Darnold. Gase is not without blame by any means but Maccagnan is the guy who set Darnold and the Jets up to fail.

I would be a bit surprised if Trevor Lawrence chose not to come out in the 2021 draft. I wouldn't be all that surprised if he forced the Jets to trade him elsewhere, assuming they have the pick, but I'd be kind of shocked if he went back to school. There's too much money involved for him to just say no when an injury next year or other unforseen event might cost him $20M guaranteed in the bank.

Every top prospect that isn’t an ass will say something similar to what Lawrence just said.

Why would he pass up on all the GTD money that comes slotted with #1 overall and risk getting injured next year?

Anyone remember Matt Barkley? Dude was going to go 2nd or 3rd overall and stayed; he lost tens of millions.

Assuming he gets his Heisman this year he also has nothing left to play for. He's won a National Championship and will likely play for another this year. He's probably a top 5-10 college QB of all time. With the way the NFL sets up contracts for first round picks and first overall picks, it makes zero sense to stay in school. He can just force the Jets hand.

But we also heard this a lot last year before Burrow became the consensus #1 pick as Tua got hurt. "He's not going to want to play in Ohio for the Bungles."

The Jets will do a lot of convincing during the interview process and what not I'm sure. I wouldn't be surprised if the first three picks after him are offense to hold that promise.

  8. Hate to say it but team deserves it.This ownership has been so bad,out of touch w no accountability,no standard for winning & continually doing the easy wrong leadinh to arranged marriages in Football operation repeatedly.

TL is their diversion to all of this & their get out of Jail free card.

It shouldnt be that easy for them. They deserve to sit in the mess they created, take responsibility & finally see the light on building a sustainable winner

First, this is what I've been saying all along: don't count on Lawrence being there as the "justification" for tanking, or even worse, for not firing Gase right now because he "gives us the best chance to get Lawrence". If he's half as smart as everyone says he is, he has to see the absolute shit show the Jets are, and have been historically with their QBs. It would be the smartest thing in the world for him to either go back to school to try and avoid the Jets picking him, or somehow forcing the Jets to trade him or the pick. The Jets have not properly developed a QB since Joe Namath...it's now part of of their franchise DNA to ruin them, like cancer. The odds of him actually allowing himself to be drafted the Jets are long.

Second, this is the smart thing for Lawrence to do, create some doubt and uncertainty so that he has as much leverage as possible. His saying earlier that he was definitely coming out after this year was a disservice to himself. This approach makes much more sense and doesn't box him into a corner.

Between the woe is me Jets fans and the media that will take a shot at Jets any chance they get this is going to be an annoying 6 months.

Trev Lawrence will be the first pick and play for whatever team holds that pick.

Unless they hire Bienemy then the Jets will be the medias favorite team.

I am a Clemson alum....he is gone. He's just smart enough to not say anything stupid. Dabo always urges top picks who are underclassmen go. He has another 5 star recruit behind him and if Trevor comes back would transfer out and I am sure and the program would be in trouble. He is going. I am sure next years worst team will probably be 1-15 or 0-16 too so it's a moot point.

People close to him, who care about him are telling him to stay. I've seen one football commentator do it probably more behind the scenes. I can't say I blame them.

Look how they've treated Darnold he was Lawrence in 2017 only difference is he came out in a loaded draft class.

The Jets are a dysfunctional organization. They can't even tank properly go 0-16 with no guarantee of the pot of gold at the end.

  15. While this all maybe true at the end of the day cant they fairly easily based on logic simply learn their lesson & build a team around Lawrence like they didnt do for Darnold/others? I mean theres nothing prohibiting them from finally drafting some WRs & stabilizing the OL.

Thats not to say they deserve a shot at TL but past sins dont always tell the future. In this case theres nothing stopping the Jets from righting a 50 yr wrong w TL & theyll have the ammunition to accomplish it

There is one significant move the Jets could make that may make the decision to leave school easier. Get rid of Gase today.

If the Jets get the 1st pick and then hire a head coach with their absurd arrangement where he can't choose his own staff, then Lawrence should stay in college.

    Hey Trevor.

You're really willing to risk going back to school?

Well, do so @ your own risk, bruh!

Amen. Been saying this for ever. Worst ever blunder is to keep him here and have everyone guessing as to the potential of him staying. Disastrous situation.
