and even if we do that, it still will take another 3 drafts to elevate the talent level on the rest of the offense. We suck at drafting along with most other things football related.
oline IS the only thing that matters if you dont have an oline. We could have Le'veon Bell in the backfield, and without an oline to smash open at least SOME hole/gap, it wouldn't matter. We could have a FQB throwing to Perrimen, one of the fasted WR in football, but without an oline to give Sam 2.5 - 3.5 seconds, it wouldn't matter. Once we have an oline to blast holes and protect, THEN we need top RB and WRs. And HC.
Well, if Sam plays well down the stretch AND they land Trevor Lawrence than I'd have to agree. Fuckin GENIUS!!! Evil genius perhaps, but genius just the same...
Acquiring OL & skill arent mutually exclusive. In fact they actually compliment each other quite nicely. While the OL still needs work(Likely 2 starters) they cannot allow their offensive weapon talent to continue to be at the level it’s been over the last several yrs. If you dont have players who can win matchups on the outside on a weekly basis you’re just as hampered as you are w an OL that cant block. This is the 3rd OL rebuild since the team had reasonable talent at the skill positions. During that timeframe we’ve seen the game create rules favoring the downfield passing attack & seen players who can win in space flourish. Most teams caught onto this by 2014...The Jets are embarassingly oblivious to this. At some point it’s imperative the team get this portion fixed.
Watching 2nd half drove me nuts, it was like buffalo knew the plays. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Has there EVER been a worse performance? By ANY team? I mean... 4 yards ... that’s gotta be historic, right? you can’t make that shit up. I still don’t understand how that happens
I’ve been kind of on the fence about Sam...not that I would pass on Trevor with the first pick regardless... but I’ve been still in the camp of wanting to see what he can do with a real OL, real receivers, real coaches, etc. but today was rough. 12 of 23? 2 picks? Can’t feel the rush? 4 total yards in a whole half of football? This is Bryce Petty territory... ugly I don't think he can be salvaged here. Not by these coaches. He needs to get the fuck away from this cesspool of a franchise and see if a real coaching staff can help him but I have lost all hope that these coaches, with this crap OL, can help him
These are GAME stats, not for one half: 1979 Rams vs. Seahawks Rams: 475 yards, 173 Passing, 303 Rushing Seahawks: -7 yards, -30 Passing, 23 Rushing Rams won 24-0. See also: 1967 Broncos (-5 yards) in a blow out loss to the Raiders, 51-0
I feel like a broken record but , again, the OL was just plain horrible in the 2nd half. It seems like on every play, they were caving in like a house of cards. McGovern has to be benched, omg, he was abominable. Can't anyone block? That 4th and 1 play?? The Bills are actually worse than the Jets in yds/pg!! I can fall down 3 times and get more yards.
Funny you say that. I had that exact thought in Miami game, and was remembering a few years back when, i think it was, the Pats said the o-line was tipping our plays not saying we're tipping the plays now -- could be, don't know -- but if we aren't we're so pathetically predictable that we migth as well be most of our plays, guys are covered, holes are small etc. opponents: sometimes there's not a Het on the TV screen
Makes you really worry about Joe Douglas' abilities if he thought McGovern and Van Rotten were good players to sign
I guess I'm the only one who thought the oline was fine yesterday? Listen, you have to make the other team pay for blitzes by taking advantage of the lack of defenders in space. Also, Darnold held on waaaaay too long on most pressures. He sucks and the offensive plan sucks but the Oline was decent IMO. Becton was GREAT!
