Will the Jets actually build around the guy is the question. I really dont believe they will.Theyll go right back to drafting defense
Douglas needs to answer that one. He is on the clock as much as anyone. He needs to get this thing going in the right direction starting now. Lawrence is a major step.
I am wondering if JuJu would be worth what it is he would want, it is hard to tell from the small amount of targets he is seeing from the Steelers atm.
Mindsets like this, passing on an elite qb that would make everyone around him better, to trade for picks is the reason GMs get fired
The Jets will get this young man killed on the field. He will make nobody better from the Emergency Room nor from early retirement.
Last year I can see your point. But with Becton, Fant, McGovern coming around, our line is not such shit anymore, and JD will keep improving it. A lot also depends on QB himself. If he is holding on to the ball for too long or starts running when there is still time to make a throw, which Sam has done a lot of, it makes OL look worse too.
That simple, huh? You call JD with that and he'll hang up the phone, LOL. What picks, what players? Which team?
JuJu ain't all that. He killed me last year all season in fantasy. Awful season. Just checked his stats out after you mentioned this and I see he's average this year. Different player without Antonio Brown getting so much focus from opposing defenses. Plus Claypool is playing out of his mind as a rookie. Never thought he would be this good right out the gate.
Yes, let's trade the surest thing we've seen since Luck or Manning for a few dart throws. That would be the most Jets thing in history. If we're number 1, we take Lawrence and trade Darnold. If we're not, we pass and try to build around Darnold. He has as good a shot as any rookie of succeeding in this offense (who is not named Lawrence). We need to stop being so obsessed with having more draft picks.
Because there is at least a possibility that JD gets the 1st overall pick, and several teams will certainly offer a bounty of draft picks, you know JD is scouring the entire college scene to see what talent is really out there to justify trading Trevor for more picks. If JD feels this is a weak draft, of course he'd take Trevor. But if he could get next Darelle Revis, Mark Gastineau, Al Toon, Curtis Martin, and Wesley Walker by trading the pick, he just might do it!
Although the haul would indeed be ridiculous and would allow the jets to rebuild much quicker, it simply isn't worth the risk. Joe Douglas is not going to want to go down as the GM who punted on the opportunity to handpick his own QB, who happens to be the most touted prospect in a decade, just to give Sam Darnold another shot. I also think that JD has been setting the stage for a quicker rebuild regardless and will continue to accumulate more draft capital before the deadline
The Jets hired Adam Gase 9 days after their own division rival fired him; they should already be banned from the NFL.
For Lawrence it would have be: 2020 1st, 2nd, 3rd picks 2021 1st, 2nd, 3rd picks Potentially even more.
OK, let's say it is the Jags. And they are picking 3rd and they also have pick #25 from the Rams. What kind of REALISTIC haul do you think the Jets can get? If you were going to trade the #1 pick (which I think is CRAZY), what is the minimum you would accept?
You do not trade Lawrence for a crap shoot of more picks. You draft Lawrence and already have himself a Franchise LT in place with Becton.
We never built anything around Darnold...Mac started to and Douglas and Gase ruined all of it.I have zero faith in Joe Douglas.
Can't hate this post enough. The fan would revolt if the Jets tank and then take a bunch of draft picks. What are we gonna go into another season where Darnold gets hurt again and Flacco is the backup it would be flat on war in Jets Land. I'm also thinking Gase won't be fired. If going 0-6 doesn't get you canned nothing will.
