what I just need to ask what it starts with him and it ends with him as the head coach he does not know how to use players call a game or develop talent. If you mean that is the least of the issues then yes Gase is not the problem

As the reporter was talking, there was a quick shot of Flacco. He looked pissed. I was praying minutes later Flacco would be arguing with Gase for the world to see, but alas, nothing.

The myopic analysis of Gase needs to end.

Give him talent an an extension. 3 years minimum.

This will get lost in this massive thread, but it’s clear that Adam Gase has Aspergers. He is probably a brilliant tactician and is good at breaking down film and seeing things in a “different” way. He believes in the playbook more than specific players. That being said he doesn’t play nicely with others, and it’s hard for him to connect or even understand the media or even his players. He probably doesn’t understand why his brilliant ideas aren’t translating on the field. It’s not arrogance, he just doesn’t have the skills to be a leader of men. It showed at his press conference when he was massively uncomfortable, or when he’s by himself in the sidelines.... he wears his hat so low you can make eye contact, and that’s by design.
There is nothing wrong with being in the spectrum, but in his case it isn’t working for him.

The first thing that needs fixing on offense, and the only thing that might cause any kind of positive effect at this point in the season is replacing the playcaller.

Somebody should whisper a little reality in Gase's ear and see if he can make a much needed adjustment.

No he's a moron and his tactics suck donkey dick. There are brilliant people with Aspergers, Gase is not one of them.

I didn't say that he could turn it around in 1 year. I said that he could change the fortunes. There's a big difference between those two. "Changing the fortunes" means improving the talent level significantly, getting them significantly on the road to where they want to be, and getting them so they're not so hapless, inept and awful, i.e., having them where they're at least competitive most of the time.

What part of Douglas being a peer of Gase's don't you understand? Douglas is not Gase's boss, and we have not seen nor heard anything to suggest that the Johnsons have put Douglas in charge of the team. The decision to fire Gase rests solely with the Johnsons.

We all know that if we fire Gase, we’re hiring Bill O’Brien right?

You guys have to get something thru your heads - the ownership hates us. Absolutely viscerally hates us, the fan base. They feel we are low life peons with no right whatsoever to question their judgement. They will keep Gase solely because the fans want him gone, and there’s no way us lowlifes can be right. They will not fire Gase this year or next year. They are convinced he is the answer.

The least??!! He's ALL of the organization's problems right now. This team is ill-prepared, unmotivated, has the football IQ of a tree stump, absolutely ZERO situational awareness, and from the head coach on down to the entire offense, has zero urgency about getting first downs. It's like first downs are the coronavirus. And I just don't mean getting them, that's just inept. I mean in showing any urgency in knowing how important they are.

This goes beyond game plan preparation and into football IQ, and the Jets have NONE.

    THAT'S coaching.

you are spot on. He's not in an ideal position. Being under the spotlight and having all that responsibility doesn't mesh well with those who are on the high-functioning end of the spectrum. He'd probably make a good assistant coach, but as we all see, he's not a good head coach, nor will he ever be.

Again the longer Gase is here the better the chance for Trevor. Yes most here if not all wants Gase gone. But if someone is else takes over Gase, like the Falcons, and Texans it gives the players a spark and play harder for the new HC. And they could win couple of games. I didn’t watch one play of the Jet game but from I hear from here, Jets struggled to play for this guy. Keep Gase on this team through December if we want the number one pick with Trevor.

How is it that the Gasemeter is now at 14% approval rating when 24 hours ago it was at nine?

There is a huge difference between those teams you mentioned and the Jets - They have real talent.

Changing the Coach won't help this team win, but it will guarantee he is gone next year and bring back a slight glimmer of hope for the future. As long as this guy is calling the shots, the entire Jets fans franchise seems like its drowning in a black hole. He needs to go now and give everyone the confirmation they need. The fact that there is a possibility of him returning only to be able to coach TL is scary.

From Monday's Newsday - I copied the whole thing because it's probably behind a paywall. Every New York and New Jersey newspaper should have a similar item.

Jets can earn first win of season by firing Adam Gase

    Updated October 18, 2020 8:13 PM
It is time to put Adam Gase out of his misery – and ours.

That would be the humane move for Jets CEO Christopher Johnson this week, because no purpose is being served by having Gase remain as coach of the NFL’s biggest embarrassment. His team is an affront to its fans, and an affront to those of us who merely are fans of good football. And his situation only is becoming increasingly counterproductive, as witnessed by the team’s latest flop, a 24-0 loss to the Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday that dropped them to 0-6.

As the only winless team in the NFL, the good news is they now "lead" the race to draft Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence next spring. The bad news is they might not be able to beat Lawrence and Clemson right now.

The vote here is not to replace Gase with defensive coordinator Gregg Williams as interim head coach, even though the defense was considerably less bad than the offense on Sunday.

Williams’ public tiff with Gase this past week only illustrates his volatile tendencies.

After Williams on Friday seemed to shift blame from his unit to Gase’s offense, Gase told CBS’ crew during a production meeting on Saturday, "That’s not what we need . . . Everyone needs to shut up and play."

Gase confirmed after the game he was not happy with Williams but said the two have spoken and moved on.

Regardless, Williams is not what the Jets need now. Just hire another of Gase’s veteran assistants as a bridge to 2021. Or Rich Kotite. Or Rex Ryan, who before the game on ESPN called the Jets "a mess."

Gase acknowledged the obvious, saying, "We haven’t done anything well this year at all," but he pointed more to technical matters this time. "This game was way less mental issues; it was physical," he said.

As usual, the Jets’ incompetence was ghoulishly creative at times. Take the end of the first quarter – please.

With the Jets trailing 7-0 and threatening at the Miami 15-yard line, they had an offensive pass interference call on Ryan Griffin erase a first down.

Then Connor McGovern snapped the ball to Joe Flacco, who at the time was giving instructions to his teammates and not expecting said ball. The flubbed snap moved the Jets out of field goal range.

On the ensuing punt, Vyncint Smith whiffed on trying to down the ball inside the 10, and Harvey Langi was called for a face mask penalty, allowing Miami to start at its 35.

    There were other indignities.

Jordan Jenkins hit Ryan Fitzpatrick in the head when the Miami quarterback was sliding to give himself up, resulting in a personal foul.

Late in the third quarter, the Jets had a third-and-1 at the Miami 24, at which time Flacco threw the ball away and was called for intentional grounding, creating a fourth-and-14. Gase ordered a 55-yard field goal try by Sam Ficken, who missed wide left.

In the fourth, with the Jets in field goal range, Flacco was sacked for a 28-yard loss on third down.

Flacco, starting his second game in place of the injured Sam Darnold, was under constant pressure and was 21-for-44 for 186 yards. He played worse than that sounds.

Before the game, Ryan said on ESPN the matchup would be interesting, given that both the Dolphins and Jets players do not like Gase, who used to coach Miami.

It was not all that interesting, as it turned out. Nor is this entire Jets season. It is a debacle.

Late in the game CBS noted that the Dolphins’ last shutout of the Jets came on Jan. 23, 1983, in the famed "Mud Bowl" AFC Championship Game at the Orange Bowl.

On that occasion, the Jets had a good excuse for not scoring in a 14-0 loss: lots and lots of mud. This time it rained only lightly.

Afterward, Gase was asked whether he is concerned that Johnson might be inclined to make a change. "No," he said, "I mean, I’m not even thinking about it."

    That makes one of us.

    GARBAGE TIME

Getting outscored 114-29 in the first half of their first six games won’t help Adam Gase’s job security. The Jets’ halftime scores this season:

    Week 1 Buffalo 21 Jets 3

    Week 2 San Francisco 21, Jets 3

    Week 3 Indianapolis 17, Jets 7

    Week 4 Denver 17, Jets 13

    Week 5 Arizona 17, Jets 3

    Week 6 Miami 21, Jets 0
