Today could be the day. If Gase's former team blows out the Jets, showing how much better they have become without Gase, and how much worse the Jets have become with Gase, that could be the final nail in Gase's coffin. Although, we thought that last year when Gase lost to the winless Dolphins, and obviously he is still here.
Anyone remember Kotite getting the beer tossed in his face walking out that last time? I thought it was classless at the time, but I laughed. I wouldn't think it was classless this time.
For a fanbase that wants the 1 pick so badly, sure as fuck complains a lot about losing every week to get their LOL
Costello just posted that the Jets ran 13 more plays, led in time of possession and won the turnover battle and lost by 24 in shutout fashion. Tell me thats not impressive.
Keeping Gase is probably his smartest decision. I’d rank these as his worst decisions 1. Obviously hiring Gase, worst decision in franchise history. 2. Not firing Bowles the season before. 3. Not firing Mac before offseason.
Just remember - two teams fired their head coaches and two teams got their first wins of the season - be careful what you wish for
If we fire Gase we risk winning a game or two that will ruin our draft position. I rather Gase stay, we lose out, he never coaches again, etc. than for chris to admit his mistake and let gase go now. At the end of the day, we know much of the team is going to be completely overhauled, let's bottom out, and do this the right way.
Of course, knowing the Jets, Chris Johnson will just double down on Gase. He'll blame Joe Douglas for this mess, fire him, make Gase GM, and announce that he stands by his statement that Gase is the future of football.
Although ownership has proven to be terrible, this would result in no one watching/going to the games, lost concessions and I think the NFL would legitimately step in. Chris Johnson is an idiot, and his unnecessary support after 1 week pretty much forces him to maintain support of Gase and finally own up to it when the season ends.
We run some risk of players demanding to leave though. Seeing Becton, Q, Mosley, etc demand to be traded and having Trevor Lawrence pull a Peyton Manning on us because we suck badly is not going to be good. I think when Becton returns we have a better offensive line than people think. We have some younger breakouts on defensive line that look promising. Unless you’re fine with blowing the whole thing up and starting over, which will take 2-3 seasons at the earliest to get good. I do think we have a couple pieces already that I’d rather at least pretend like we care about winning for. We can still get the first pick without Gase anyway and maintaining a shred of dignity.
Is there anything more sad and pathetic for us Jet fans that to root for our HC to stay because it gives us the best chance to loose? Good, Lord. How low we have sunk as an organization under the Johnson brothers
At this point, I really don't know if a coaching change is going to give us any wins. We're not only losing right now, we're not even competing. With only a few exceptions, there's not a single player on this team that is even performing at a "below average" level! But, what an interim HC may do is use the players more effectively in order to give a better idea of who actually has potential.
With or without Mr. Adam" Worst Coach in NFL Gase" we NEED the first Pick ....securing "All World May Be Better thaN Burrow" Trevor L So its a difficult decision and I have read good Posts up till now but I am throwing my support behind 10 more agonizing weeks of this Pig Vomit team with Gase and his little noodnik Loggains Yep firing AG just gives immediate gratification but perhaps with a win or 2 brings long term suffering..? TBH I really give up>>>just numb at this point Someone will mke a decision I have zero control over
Very true. It will also improve the overall moral of the players. Both points would benefit the GM and the new HC immensely as we move forward from this mess.
Man, I really wish we had an interim coach that could push this team to 4-12. That will really help us get on the road to being a great team in the future.
