Bell on KC just really makes that squad even more dangerous than they already are and they're the gold standard.
His trade value was based on how well he played for the Jets. Playing well after the fact doesn’t change that or reflect poorly on JD by not getting value that came to fruition after the fact. there was only one GM in the NFL dumb enough to want Bell’s contract that nobody else even wanted to sign him for nevertheless would want to trade for it...and he’ll never get another shot at a GM job ever again.
His trade value is based on demand, and there could have been teams who'd be willing to give up a pick to ensure they get Bell.
there weren’t or they would have. And his demand was based on how well he played. You simply can’t attempt to rationally argue those two aren’t tied together. Nobody wanted that shitty contract for what he had shown on the field. Hell, nobody was willing to pay him that contract, other than Mac, when he was regarded as elite.
You could be right, I just find it hard to believe Douglas couldn't get some sort of bidding war going given the chance Bell will approach his old form after being free of Gase. Unless of course Douglas lost the ability to negotiate becuase Gase was insisting behind closed doors that Bell had to go now.
I've heard it was certain things within his contract that no one wanted to trade for him. Plus I'm sure teams were betting the Jets would cut him because he also would be owed a $2.5 M bonus if he played Week 6.
Should be interesting to watch..... could be really good for them, but if he doesnt work out on the Chiefs, you know the dude is TOAST.
Different situation. Mosely has two years left after this year at a huge salary. JD will not be dumping him any time soon. Two years from now if we are not in a different, much better, spot than today, it is JD who will be dumped. One more thought on Bell. I remember when he signed with the Jets people were saying he made a mistake, sold out, etc, for taking the money from the non contending Jets instead of staying with Stealers. Some people were even saying he took a little bit less, missed money for 1 year, when in reality he was only offered 10 mil guaranteed. Instead he ended up resting his body for a year, had one losing season with the Jets, but guaranteed himself 28 mil, and now after one year and change playing for SB champs. You think he would get a penny more than 10 mil guaranteed from Stealers if he performed the way he did for the Jets first year? I think one would have to conclude that though Bell took a huge gamble, it did work out for him in the end.
When we play KC, if LeVeon runs rampant on us there will be a straight up revolt in the lockerroom against Gase. You couldn't use this guy as a weapon and KC just smashed us in the mouth with our own guy? Yeah.. that isn't going to be pretty.
