Joe D can’t fire Gase as both report directly to Chris Johnson. They are equals in this weird Jets power structure
He can't fire Gase, so this is the next best thing. Burn it down so that Gase has no chance to be retained for next season.
Yippee more no name FA signings for the OL & defense. And the draft will be rebuilding the OL AGAIN & but of course plenty of Safeties & interior DL!! Anyone really that excited? JD isnt scaring any Front office in the NFL
And then we fire the GM and keep the coach? I mean the Jets are dumb enough to do that, but if we're going to fire Douglas, it needs to be this offseason.
If we go another 2 years in the same direction we are going now with no talent across the board we should keep Douglas?I was never sold on Douglas hes a rookie GM.He hasnt really done anything. He traded Leonhard Williams for picks he wasted on bad players, didnt resign Robby,Traded our best player because he didnt like Gase,Released Bell because he didnt like Gase.Mosley opted out because he doesnt want to play for Gase.Douglas is nothing more then Gases Puppet
You have to be on some serious crack if you think Gase has a say in player personnel decisions right now.
He does guaranteed as him and CJ talk it over some scotch and blow! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don't understand why I or anyone should still have to say this, but Douglas and Gase ARE PEERS. DOUGLAS IS NOT GASE'S BOSS. AS FAR AS WE KNOW, DOUGLAS HAS NO AUTHORITY TO FIRE ADAM GASE. THAT RESTS SOLELY WITH CHRIS JOHNSON. UNLESS OR UNTIL WE KNOW THAT DOUGLAS IS RUNNING THINGS, IT IS IRRATIONAL AND DUMB TO BLAME DOUGLAS FOR GASE STILL BEING THE HC. It's mind boggling to me how some posters don't know even the most basic facts about the team, yet come on here full of opinions and criticisms and have no clue what they're talking about.
His moves have not made the team worse, but even if they have, sometimes one reaches a dead end when one is going in a certain direction, and one can go no further. The only thing one can do, is retrace one's steps, go back a ways (things get worse), and then one takes a new path. Come on, you're letting your emotions overwhelm your intellect.
Gase hates RBs, he got rid of Ajayi the same exact way and forget about getting Perrine a chance because just like in the past where he gave the carries to Gore over Kenyan Drake, he is going to give Gore the lion share of the carries here as well.
I hope Bell signs with NE or Buffalo and makes JD (not Gase) look like a clown. As a GM you do not let your head coach run you and Gase is running JD right now.
This year's team is worse than last year's even beyond the harder schedule. Now I understand that there's an argument for tanking the season to get Gase fired and get the number one pick. If that was Douglas's plan all along, then I totally understand and want to let him see it to completion. But if that isn't the case, then I hate to say it, but Douglas isn't the answer.
Douglas may not be the answer. We can't know that however, until the next off season is over at the earliest. He may not be given the authority by the Johnsons to fire Gase. We could still judge him by his FA and draft in 2021 and see how the players he drafted this year do.
