I would say Rex as long as you never let him have a say in player personnel decisions.....ever.

Gotta be Rex. He bled green and white and had some epic wins in the playoffs

    Easily Rex, with Herm second.

I can’t believe people are voting Mangini.
Inflexible, uninspiring, petty, players did not respond to him and quit on seasons.
Also thought he was way smarter than he was, as displayed by utter lack of in game adjustments.
    Essentially he was Gase 1.0.

Honestly, given the results over the last 20 years, I can't think of a single former HC I'd bring back. This isn't the same NFL anymore and the game has indeed passed all these old HC's by. Gotta look ahead and leave the trainwreck of the last 20years in the rearview mirror.

Tempted to choose Rex, then switched to Mangini who had a spectacularly short leash compared to what's happened since. I think Eric would have had a successful coaching career had he not gone straight to Cleveland after he was let go. I think an older, wiser Eric Mangini can still find success. Always thought that.

Joe Walton, watching him on the sidelines picking his nose holding his clipboard, would be perfect for how bad this team is.

I can't believe that anyone would seriously want that dumbass Rex Ryan back as HC. Aside from the ride he got from Mangini's team, he did nothing and was a constant embarrassment. I'd fold the franchise before I'd bring back Rex Ryan, Rich Kotite, or Joe Walton.

Of the former HCs listed, it would have to be Mangini. If it could be any HC in his prime, my order would be:

    1) Ewbank
    2) Belicheat
    3) Parcells
    4) Carroll
    5) Mangini

I was so young with Ewbank, I didn't really know that much about him. I liked Carroll the best of any of those coaches, and still do, but he isn't as good as Ewbank, Belicheat and Parcells.

Herm; I think he was the best of these options at finding hidden talent and using guys to their strengths. His teams were disciplined and the Jets actually did pretty well under Herm; they made the playoffs 3 out of the 5 years with him as coach and the two years they didn't were due to injuries and not poor play.

Whatever. If that makes you happy, believe what you want. There are only two people I hate, Trump and McConnell.

I would have loved to have seen Rex with a GM that can put talented players on the field. Always felt like post-2010 the team just had less and less talent on the field.

  19. He played apart in that bc he was very vocal about guys he liked on draft day ala Coples,KW etc. By the time he realized how bad offensive skill had deteriorated Sanchez was ruined & he had Idzik taking Calvin Pryor over OBJ who Rex turned out to be right about.

Ozzie Newsome had it right when he said to keep Rex out of draft room.Unfortunately the FO lacks leadership, conviction & a prototype making them completely at any HCs mercy in terms of talent. A HC needs input but they shouldnt be the strongest voice on draft day nevermind pretty much turning in the card all together.Clueless directionless upper management

Aside from Weeb Ewbank, or MAYBE Walt MIchaels, there is no former Jets HC I'd ever want to come back. And frankly, I don't even want Ewbank or Michaels. Your options should've included "None of the above" and "No former HCs need apply".
