Studs Crowder - looks like the only real WR out there. made many crucial catches. he caught 7 for 104 on 10 targets. Ficken - 5 for 5 on FGs including a 54 yarder and 1 for 1 on XPs. Mann - just for that tackle alone. probably the best tackle I've seen a punter make Jeff smith - actually looked pretty good out there and gave us some speed. 7 for 81 yards on 9 targets. Darnold - he did all he could. no turnovers. ran for 1st downs and even had a 46 yard TD run. plus he was playing with a sprained shoulder. he isn't getting any help form the jets. we are ruining the kid Desir - had 2 INTs including a pick 6. Duds Gase - always top dud. I can't list all the nonsense but i'll list some. god awful playcalling yet again. not going for it on 4th and inches while down 2 and settling for a FG was awful. and the nonsense at the end of the game. This guy needs to go now. IDK WTF CJ is thinking or JD allowing this guy to be the coach still. BTW fun stat only 3 times in the past 10 years has a team +3 in turnovers lost. all 3 are the jets. this was number 3. Edit: and awful for putting in becton too. he should protect his players not risk injury to safe his job. fuck off gase. he did the same to bell week 1 and to avery last year. gase is a pud Williams - our D was awful and undisciplined. we allowed 37 points to a 3rd string UD QB making his 1st start without his top WR. we had an asston of penalties mostly person fouls which is all poor discipline and then at the end of the game calling suicide blitzes for no reason other then to injure their QB is just unprofessional. I lost a lot of respect for williams after that nonsense. the whole end of the game was awful from both coaching staffs. gase shouldn't have called a TO. fangio should have punted. williams shouldn't have sent everyone it was just an awful end to an awful game Desir - yes he is both a stud and a dud. huge up and down game for him. despire the 2 INTs he had 1 slip through his hands and hit in the facemask which allowed jeudy a 40+ yard TD catch. he also got burned several other times. he let up 2 TDs and around 200 yards hogan - is just ass. can we cut him already. I hate seeing him on the field. he's useless. TEs - what a shit group. herndon couldn't catch covid. griffin looks slow and dumpy. wesco never gets involved. That guy is dropping everything....and to think he was supposed to be a weapon....disgusting that sequence at the end was also horrible, but Fangio deserves a lot of that blame too...why the fuck isn’t he just punting or taking a knee....13 seconds left nothing will change. He shares blame in that. some of those roughing the passer calls were total bullshit too, so the refs were interfering again some of the PI calls too...but at least 1 or 2 of those went our way. it’s just...you can’t make this up...if someone were to tell me that we are playing at home on a short week against a team with an undrafted third string QB with as many injuries as we have, and that we’d have 3 picks including a pick six while we don’t have any turnovers ourselves...well I’d say we win going away for sure. I get the injuries....they are bad....but how anyone can watch this team and not blame the piss poor coaching is beyond me the Johnsons are well and truly idiots
+1 - I agree with both posters. Sam is not the problem. With all the scrambling he had to do and no turnovers, that was a feat in itself. Edit: Maybe the Jets have go themselves a player in J. Smith - he looked good.
Now that our TEs have decided to check out every position on offense right now is a problem for us. Every position. Its unbelievable. Some of it is injuries like at tackle and maybe WR but our TEs are a joke and so are the young RBs. Not that Bell and Gore are some explosive solution. How bad is our team? We won the turnover battle 3-0 and still lost by two scores. I also have lost faith in Greg Williams. We are the last ranked defense and we play like it. And yes - every week they don't look prepared. Fire him with Gase. But not for the end of the game stuff. Vic Fangio is close to being as moronic as Gase. Why he didn't pooch punt it at the end and instead exposed his QB to meaningless hits is on him. It was one of the dumbest calls of the night for a winning team. A gift pick 6 did not make Desir a stud. He still was a big reason we lost he game. The refs were a dud. Sam gets violently body slammed and no penalty. Yet whenever we touch their QB flags come flying. Our pass rush is constantly being held and they only called one holding call on Denver's line all night.
Desir was far more dud than he was stud. He was gifted two INTs including the pick 6 by a practice squad QB that looked like he was desperately trying to throw the game. He was abused the rest of the game.
Desir had the pick 6 but he was burnt by Patrick and got mossed by Jeudy lol. I had a friend say why the Jets don’t get Sam on the move as much. Maybe 1 or 2 a game he gets that chance. Thanks Gase. Crowder was Crowder, he’s really Sam’s go to. And Jeff Smith speed element helped a bit. Looks like these two def help. Hopefully Perriman is ready to go next week as well. Herndon has been awful, let’s see Wesco get some burn.
have to agree with the assessments above. Sam did all he could and when the freaking announcers are saying things like - just think if he had these tow young receivers what he could do. Sam, Crowder and Smith. AS for the D, wee CW should be put on notice. The unit is undisciplined and it seems poorly coached. Add OL to Duds: Six sacks, I lost count on the hurries, I mean they looked as bad as last year.
I like when you do these but Desir was garbage yesterday. Rypien had 19 completions. I don't think it's an exaggeration. To see that maybe 12-13 were against Desir including two touchdowns and he got jobbed by Jerry Jeudy on the long one. They isolated him as much as possible. The two INT's were cool.
Not that I don't agree with the rest of the review (especially Herndon) but this defense is beyond belief this year. I get Adams and Mosley but this is 4 games in a row now where they just get walked down the field on damn near every single series. Plus there have been how many complete and under breakdowns where they just get burned for a mile long touchdown. Everybody rags on Gase but in the Jets 9 levels of 2020 hell this defense is starting to rank pretty high up there in the hierarchy. They can't stop anything and its not exactly like they have been facing the late 80's 49'ers or early 00's Colts out there.
I had desire as a stud and a dud. overall he did have a bad game, but anytime you come up with 2 INTs and a TD on defense it deserves some credit.

we can give credit to gordon though. don't forget he's an elite RB. we stuffed him, he bounced it outside and made some people miss.
Wouldn't of put Sam on the Studs list. He had one nice run but the way he constatnyl was staring down his receiver (refusing to move off to a free option) was an invite to pick city. If he'd been going up against a secondary that wasn't practice squad levels then he would of been burnt so many times.
Their last TD wasn't even a sweep. But earlier in the game they did one for 30+ yards. Every game there is a sweep or two for 30 or 50 or 75 yards. If I was going against the Jets I'd call about 10 sweeps a game.
Agreed. Sam wasn’t good but he wasn’t bad. He threw a ball near the end that should of been picked. He also ran into sacks and took at least 3 sacks where he just refuses the throw the ball away. He looked gun shy at times too and was afraid to throw the ball even when he had guys open at times.
Can we add Joe Buck as a dud? He was straight up rooting against the Jets. Every flag was an egregious penalty against us, but nothing the other way. They weren't going to show to toe drag int until the refs were looking at it, they were going back to Q roughing. Hewitt is a legit MLB
It occurs to me that we should probably add McDougald to the duds list. The guy plays like a zombie and has been a disappointment.
Herndon seems to have ruined himself. He plays like he'd rather be doing something, at minimum be somewhere, else.
that's the issue without good LBers. it's their job to cover the sweeps. hewitt is a good back-up but not athletic enough to cover sweeps or RBs. williamson can but He's working back form injury. ogletree sucks. mosely opted out, onowasu is hurt, cashman is hurt.
