I have my doubts that Andy Reid himself could do anything with this schmuck

There is no doubt Gase needs to go. There are a lot of people on this board who think Sam will be fixed with a new coach next year. He is trash.

The coach, quarterback, receivers and defense are all trash. The offensive line is not good. We have like two or three players worth a starting spot in the NFL.

    It's an absolute dumpster fire.

This is one of the worst Jets rosters I have ever seen when you count the injuries. It was pretty trashy before that as well.

I don't think you can judge either Gase or Douglas yet on what is happening. The Jets basically blew the draft for a decade straight prior to either coming onto the scene. Any team that does that is going to look absolutely terrible on the field.

The argument for firing Gase basically comes down to he is one of the unluckiest coaches in the NFL. Is that a real albatross sitting on his shoulder or will he manage to turn it around when all his best players stop getting hurt? The trend began with his QB in Miami and has continued for 5 years now.

When I said half in jest in the offseason that JD's best move might be getting hit by a truck this is what I was talking about. The Jets talent level is basically a smidge above zero on the NFL scale. The average team is maybe at 5 and the contenders are all at 8 except the one lucky team a year that gets in with average talent.

I put on WFAN for 10 min and in that span.

Gase punted by the 50 down 17

    Darnold threw another pick 6

And the fact Gase is playing Gore shows how clueless he is.

This team couldn't even make the top 10 in the NCAA rankings. Absolutely horrendous.

Gase plays the game scared. He's about as agressive as a dead cat.

Let JBC call plays and evaluate sam with another coach for the rest of this horrid season

If Gase isn't fired by the end of the BYE week, I'm done.

This game is actually exactly what I hoped for.

Two questions are now answered without doubt, Gase is gone and Darnold sucks

Realistically, if they don't fire him Friday after the Denver loss (yes, it will be a loss) then I could finally after 37 years of watching the jets since 1983 as a 9 year old be done. I have NEVER gotten to the point of not watching but that would do it.

Joe Douglas is about to have the same dilemma that Mike Tannenbaum had in 2012 with Mark Sanchez. His young QB has nowhere near enough talent to win with and yet when he hits the market he is likely to get a midrange offer from some other team that needs a young guy to build around.

Tannenbaum's response was to pre-emptively sign Sanchez to a midrange offer before he hit the market. There wasn't enough talent around him and the Jets collapsed into a fetal curl from which they have rarely stirred over the last 9 seasons.

What is JD going to do with Darnold?

Signing him with this roster around him just means the Jets are paying for a do-over on developing him - now to occur from 2021 to 2023 since the first development cycle was an abysmal failure. On the bright side Darnold is still very young. On the dark side the Jets will have to make him a good offer to stay because he is very likely to flee to more welcoming environs than those that frustrated Jets fans will provide.

Letting him go means the Jets roster is flatlined - with no QB and no talent base on either side of the ball that stands out. The Jets then have to naturally draft a QB with a high pick and develop him. No trading up again because the Jets roster is threadbare and they cannot afford to bundle talent options for a "sure thing" as if that ever really exists.

I just left my parents house where we watch the games every weekend. Headed home. I have no idea what's happening in the game right now and I couldn't care less

Apathy is the worst you can get as a fan. I think we are all to that point. Havent gotten angry during a Jets game in years....

The decision becomes a lot easier with the #1 overall pick and Trevor Lawrence sitting there.

As bad as Sanchez was - his extension wasn't egregious. I mean it was considering the calibre of player being extended, but it wasn't from the standpoint of where the rest of the league was being paid.

Darnold's potential extension at $20 million+ is an awful position to be in. Because you're 100% right. He will get that on the open market if Teddy Bridgewater can.

I don't know if Sam is any good or not but I do know that he's worse today than 2 years ago. Gase should not get another practice with the guy let alone another game.

They just said the Jets are the only team in the NFL that hasn't had a lead at any point in time this season.
Gase shouldn't be allowed on the plane ride home.
