You can change your answer, so if you choose Gase and he starts winning games, you can switch to Kotite. Or if you choose Kotite and we go 0-16, you can switch to Gase.
I'm going with Gase for the same reason I chose him over Bowles: both bad HCs, but Gase is an egotistical asshole, which also gets him the "win" here against Kotite.
Let's go with the illustrious Charley Winner/Ken Shipp combo in 1975, which managed to lose ten of their last eleven to go 3-11. They were the only team to give up over 400 points and finished dead last in PA by over 50 points! Winner also became the only coach to be dismissed during the season by the Jets. Shipp was then told to set sail after the season. Making the case against Gase, a retro rewind to the infamous polyester, disco and Playboy swinger club era may be just what the doctor ordered to shock the patient back into reality. Assuming, of course, the team remains on life support and no significant progress is made by coach and players. Holtz and Kotite were a also way in over their heads and should have never been hired. You know your organization has serious administrative issues when half a dozen coaches are vying for top bed-shitter, with all of them contributing to this perpetual monstrosity in their own unique style. The chances of making a first down on 3rd and 31 are 1.6%, which probably equates to the Jets percentage of making the playoffs this season. It's all connected. Burn baby burn, burn this mother down...
Cmon guys, Kotite is worse Gase is inconsistent, terrible most of the time with flashes of potential With Kotite, there were no flashes
Kotite. The Eagles nosedived and quit on him, so naturally Leon Hess had to run out and hire him. 3-13 and 1-15 seasons. Worst time ever to be a Jets fan. At least he gave us Wayne Chrebet though. That being said, Gase has potential to tighten the race at some point. Especially when CJ brings him back because he did his best to coach through the pandemic and all the injuries. Yuck! Now I want to vomit.
If Gase is back next year, barring some miracle in which we magically transform into a good team this season, that will be it for me as a Jets fan.
Whoa there, Kotite was way worse. The only possible way that Gase could be deemed sub-Kotite is if we assume that all of Kotite's failings were because he was, first-and-foremost, a bad GM and we never really got to see his HC chops. A more interesting poll would be for worst GM - Kotite/Macc/Idzik
Gase won almost twice as many games in one season than Koitite did in 2, and it’s not like Kotites teams were competitive in any way, so barring 0-16 by Gase this season Kotite remains on the throne.
I remember at least the Kotite teams were competitive, they lost all the time but they didn’t get blown out. they lost most of their games late and didn’t know how to finish. Most of the players he picked played pretty well under Parcells as well. He won’t be on record for destroying a quarterback who could’ve been a franchise player
96’ team was blown out 6 times. 95’ team was blown out 4 times with a few additional double digit losses. I thought I remembered something similar to what you did, but in this case the numbers don’t lie.
I'm going to regret doing this, but where are these flashes of potential? Am I watching a different game than you? Maybe even a different sport? I wasn't around during Kotite eso I can't answer fairly, but the way people speak about that era and are comparing it to this shit we got going on makes me cringe.
It will be time to cancel my attendance at any game. 2021 season will have the same jets fans as the 2020 season. Only road team supporters will show up
Lets face it, the Richie K. years are nostalgic years we'd like to forget...yet cant. in 95 & 96 I was a adolescent boy who was loyal to the Green and White because of the Kenny O', Toon, Shuler, Klecko, teams of the late 80's (some good teams). The pain and shame experienced in the Kotite years hopefully will never be experienced again! Looking back at those draftees ,not a horrid collection 1 Kyle Brady 9 TE 13 Penn St. 1 Hugh Douglas 16 DE Central State (OH) 2 Matt O'Dwyer 33 G Northwestern 4 Melvin Hayes 106 T Mississippi St. 4 Tyrone Davis 107 TE Virginia 5 Carl Greenwood 142 DB UCLA 6 Eddie Mason 178 LB North Carolina 7 Curtis Ceaser 217 WR Grambling St. 1 Keyshawn Johnson 1 WR USC 2 Alex Van Dyke 31 WR Nevada 3 Ray Mickens 62 DB Texas A&M 5 Marcus Coleman 133 DB Texas Tech 6 Hugh Hunter 168 DE Hampton 7 Chris Hayes 210 DB Washington St.
Kotite's teams were worse (at least so far), but I always just felt kind of sorry for him, like he was just a pathetic chump who happened to be getting paid undeserved millions to do the job. Gase I despised before he was even our coach--and my opinion of him has not improved. I guess, if it were me in that position, I'd rather have people hate me than pity me, so I'm going with Kotite.
