Was this already posted somewhere? https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...ad-criticize-metlife-stadium-turf/5847655002/ As if Jets players aren't demoralized enough, now it's going to be in their heads that maybe the home turf is a season-ending injury just waiting to happen. Sticky turf is high danger for ACL's and high-ankle sprains, even the dreaded turf toe. Does anyone know if a new surface was installed at Met-Life during the off-season?
Maybe they could just be forced to forfeit the rest of the home games to spare us some of the misery to come. Seriously, if I were San Francisco, I would refuse to return next week to face the Giants. There has to be something wrong with the turf for that many guys to go down with injuries in one game.
"Contact injury" does not rule out the turf has a factor, Max. Shanahan said the turf was sticky, and that his players were bitching about it from the beginning of the game. Re-watch Bosa's injury, for example. His foot plants, re-plants... then catches fast and seems to get stuck there. Then his body rolls over it. If his foot doesn't catch, there's no injury. I'm not saying this doesn't happen on another kind of turf. But SF seems to be implying it. And they were the ones playing on it.
Steelers and Giants played on the same turf with no issues. Is this a rain (did it rain recently) combined with the turf or something?
Regardless of the turf... In NFL history, has a team ever been more devastated by injury in a single game than the 9ers against us on Sunday? Bosa and Jimmy G are both in the top 50 of the 2020 NFL top 100 players. AND their feature back, Mostert, who came within a holding penalty of having 150 yards rushing in the first quarter, left with a likely MCL sprain. Bosa likely done for the year. Starting DT Thomas likely done for the year. SF came in without two other top 50 players, Kittle and Sherman. They could be without FOUR top 50 players next week against the Giants. On the same turf. lol.
You're rating Garroppolo way too high. He's lucky if he's a top 20 QB. We made him look a lot better as he threw the same quick out 14 times in a row. Solomon Thomas is also largely considered a disappointment. But yes - it was bad for them. I'd feel worse if we didn't have to make a couch call to Vinny Testaverde in 2005 because both of our quarterbacks had their seasons ended in back to back games.
I think they should just replace it with a 1' deep of mud or quicksand to help level things out a bit....
Me? I'm not rating him. The NFL players are the ones rating him the #43 player in the league this year. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-top-100-list-players-vote/1wqafu5wlo54519ad4vksql3ck
Fair enough. I just think he sucks so I like to express that as often as possible. And he reminds me of the type of guy who eats pizza with a fork and knife.
I figured this was overblown. I understand being upset seeing your teammates down. But this is happening all over the league.
