Yeah no thanks bro. I’ll take football over the entire league getting covid. What kind of take is that? LOL
You have to think about it like this. The defense requires its precious practice time to run its scheme the way it will actually run it on game day. The same is true for the offense. Do you want Sam and his guys wasting reps trying to poorly run the Buffalo Offensive Scheme or get good at what they actually want to do? The “Scout Team” are generally practice squad players and some backups. If they were not good enough to be key players what makes you think they are going to effectively simulate one of the best defenses in the league? Quarters coverage is a 4 deep look but the CB’s play as if they were in man if the route is intermediate. It’s no mystery to a QB anyway. Name me a scout team CB who can do that for the Jets?
The type of “simulation” that they usually refer to is usually more situational and specific as opposed to an entire defensive coverage.
True, but the Bills are roughly the same team as last year, plus one WR (Digs). Having Digs only helps if Allen can get him the ball on a regular basis. Last year (b4 CJ went out with a groin pull) it looked like we had their number. And we beat them in the rematch. I know, they played a lot of backups. But so didn't we...Jets had more starters on IR than any other team. I don't think Jets and Bills are that far apart. I give the Bills the nod for home field, but there won't be any fans there. Jets 17-Bills 16
Was just thinking that the other day...all the starters we had out and where we ranked in the league. Apparently we had the most on the IR. It sure seemed that way To pull off 7-9 with that kind of bad luck is actually kind of impressive. Nothing to crow over but the team didn't ever really quit on Gase and Williams
It still sticks in my craw that if 2 of these 3 things were different last year the Jets would have been in the playoffs -Missing a field goal and extra point causing the Jets to lose week 1. -Losing to a terrible winless Dolphins team. -Losing to a terrible winless Bengals team. Two of those things are different, the Jets are 9 and 7 with a very different vibe. Yes they would have lost immediately in the playoffs, but the whole feeling around the team would be more positive. I won’t even include the whole mono experience.
So Cashman and Hewitt as ILB. No C.J., no Williamson. Isn’t that how we started last year? That could be our weak link in defense.
Finally a Jets fan who is a realist. Bad drafting and stupid free agency moves by your previous GM have made your franchise with a long climb to even being respectable. Buffalo went through this process and when I look back on it the problem was from the top, the owner. I feel the same about the Jets. Buffalo was trapped in a old crony system when the original owner Ralph Wilson let his buddies run the team into the ground. As sorry as I am to say this, but the franchise turned when he died and new ownership bought the team. A young well prepared coach and GM who think in lockstep, the owner spent significant money in upgrading the team medical facilities and they now are rated as one of the best in football. The Jets need new ownership and until they get it they are doomed to being mediocre at best.
I sure am glad that the Jets didn't draft. At least Mims was arrested for DUI. EDIT: I meant "At least Mims WASN'T arrested for DUI."
