Thanks for all the posting NC. Good info. We are just six days away from game one. Hard to believe. It’s been a long, crazy road. Didn’t think we would see Jets football this year. Happy to see it happen.
I think we still have an open slot for the 53 man roster. Wonder what JD move will be.

If we don’t sign Butler after having him in the building I’ll be ten times more perplexed. I guess the fact that we are actually attempting to get better at WR is a good sign. Baby steps.

This is what I was thinking....yes, he had that great one-handed grab in the EZ, so we all wanted him, but we didn't see him drop the 10 ez ones just before that (maybe?)

Looking forward to the year. Amazing that it's going to happen. Winning would be nice but the chance to watch competition in this dark time is a wonderful thing. The team will do as much as it can but the clubs with units returning have a big advantage with no pre-season. Don't go crazy. Enjoy the ride.

You can't create a jump ball scenario on every sort of route in the tree where your height simply wins the matchup. Most things over the middle can't be thrown high like that or you're going to end up with broken ribs.

I have to believe he has very stiff hips and doesn't stop and go or stick his foot in the ground and change directions very well.

For the size though, hopefully we add him for back shoulder scenarios and what not.

If he's stiff in the hips, or there's a legit reason why no one has signed him yet, then I'll be fine if JD passes on him. I only want him if he can help. I know that a jump ball situation can't be created on every route, or at least shouldn't be for the very reason you cited, but I think he could possibly help us as a possession-type WR, especially in the Red Zone. Just like you can't teach speed, you can't teach height or athleticism.

We’ll need someone for all the Hail Mary’s we’ll be tossing.

Good but another QB I thought he just said he was happy with all of the 5 we have already?

It is these mixed messages that make you think hmm you couldn't lie straight in bed and aren't to be trusted when you open your mouth.

we are largely a no-name defense and no-name offense at this point, and I'm perfectly fine with that

Hopefully that makes our guys a bit hungrier, and to my eyes many are on the upswing -- as opposed to hoping that some former pro-bowler has a few good games left in the tank

We'll see how it unfolds, but if Sam spreads the ball around, hits the open guy, and our receivers and backs don't give up on routes and catch the ball, we might have a fun time rooting for these no-names

He could be lying to try to drum up possible trade interest in Fales or White, or to make the players and team think that he believes in them. That can help boost confidence and make players work harder. He could be telling the truth and just be doing due diligence on players that are available. I think GMs keep extensive files on almost every player in the NFL, but especially on ones that they've scouted, and follow their progress. If one of them becomes available such as in cut-downs following TC, the GM may bring him in to evaluate him for a present need, or may bring him in to see how he has progressed with technique work, to see how that player has grown in his understanding of the position/instincts, or if he has healed from an injury for future reference. It could also be a matter of a player that the team didn't really scout in the past, but now has come to their attention, and the GM thinks it merits bringing the player in for an evaluation not only for their team, but to find out weaknesses or traits in that player's game so that if/when they face that player they have some information on how to attack that player in a game.

I might be wrong. I don't know a whole lot about the guy at this point. He also likely doesn't help them anywhere else but receiver because of his frame. He's too big to play any special teams or anything and he's not exactly going to be running underneath routes. They already have two big HOF possession receivers so they probably figured he was never going to help them.

The team he left and their receiver depth makes his cut a little less suspect.

I'm surprised we haven't brought back Deontay Burnett. I'm not sure if he's on the Philly practice squad or was released but bring him into the building at the very least.

Maybe someone can refresh my memory on why we let him go- maybe it was his height and he's not a slot receiver at the level of Crowder but I would think he could be a good option for us. Shifty, good hands, I thought he was a decent route runner, and especially since there is already chemistry with Darnold. The probability of him getting into a game- I think he played for Philly in their last game of the season would be much higher than our 5th qb, ffs.

I wonder if there is a type of professional courtesy that would keep Joe D from poaching a player from that practice squad. Maybe that would cause resentment that would make future trades harder?

I still think he's a much better option than a 5th qb, especially since we don't need a camp arm anymore.

I'm guessing that the decision to keep so many QBs on our roster has a lot to do with the Covid-19 situation. There were talks earlier in the camp about keeping one QB in the bubble in case there's an outbreak in QB room, I think they scrapped that idea but I still think that it's a good insurance to have, just in case.

I said previously that I thought he was harshly treated by us, he didn't seem to do a lot wrong when given the chance, he made some good catches and he knows Sam well and vice versa obviously.

We could have made more use of him that year as once again we were riddled with injuries, give him a go and who knows what he might have turned out to be, instead, we pissed about with a couple of targets here and there and then released him before the start of the next season.

I hope they keep Fales in a massive bubble and nobody can burst it when he needed is not needed on the field

If a team signs a player off another team's practice squad, that player has to be signed to the roster. He can't be signed to the new team's practice squad. I don't think there's an etiquette that would prevent it. It happens, and not that infrequently.
