The ultimate determination about whether this is a successful trade or not, books down to the draft picks. However, don't forget with Jamal the Jets are a more successful team, especially with an overhauled OL and a few decent linebackers coming back. Without Jamal, the Jets are f*cking GARBAGE and surely will go something like 5-11, 4-12 this season. So is it worth the Jets being a laughingstock yet again? So there's that....

If Joe Douglas can pick decent, above average players with all of those picks then this trade will appear successful. But the Jets history says they'll f*ck up the picks. Making this a terrible trade.....

What did we go with him on the team again?

The one position we still look good in after Adams has left is Safety, Maye is good and had a good camp and the new lad Davis is already showing he is good enough to play and then we have the Seattle Safety Mcdougal who is also more than competent.

At the end of the day Adams being on or off the team does nothing to make us any less garbage or otherwise.

Spot on. It's sad that others can't see that Adams is 100% to blame and he created the situation where the Jets couldn't keep him. Further, we are better off without his diva attitude. The players obviously didn't really like his attitude and are happier without him. One doesn't build a team around the strong safety position. Some fans get blinded by star power and don't really stop and think about where the money has to go on a football team (QB, LT, Edge, WR, CB).

It's not Jamals fault the Jets can't draft for shit. The Jets problem had ALWAYS been drafting. So because you think it doesn't make a difference (due to the Jets stupidity), you think they trade the guy for MORE draft choices which I already told you the Jets f*cling suck at? This trade is so dumb it's literally like the Steelers trading Troy Polamalu in his prime. Does that about sum it up? We need to hope and pray that JD knows how to draft and not do what every GM in recent memory has done. A Jets typical draft goes something like Darron Lee, Christian Hackenberg, Lorenzo Mauldin, Jarvis Harrison, Deon Simon, etc. And yet you want to trust these f*cling regards yet again. If JD got 10 1st round draft choices they would still f*ck things up.

So, we need to hope that he knows how to draft, but it's a given that he'd screw up 10 1st round picks?

Why DO you NEED to KEEP highlighting words like THIS for some reason?

It is Adams fault that he acted like a prick and that at the end of the day is all it boils down to, nobody ever said he was a bad player but at the end of the day the Jets don't need their best player to be a safety, it does not help us in the slightest.

JD looks like he knows what he is doing so I am unconcerned about our future drafts tbh, he already seemed to understand that Adams was going to be a wanker and drafted a replacement, maybe that is the sign of good management you wanted to see.

Does that about sum it up for you?

ps if you want to say fucking, just fucking say it.

Douglas is way ahead of the game because he didn't draft any guys that made you say who?

Idzik was taking undrafted players in the 3rd round with injury problems and Maccagnan would trade down to gain a 6th round pick only to trade back up and give up even more for a bottom of the draft tackle he prayed could be a 5+ year starter.

How Bradway, or Idzik, or Mac drafted has absolutely nothing to do with how Douglas will draft. Bradway, Idzik and Mac were all horrible hires. Douglas learned from two of the best and is highly respected around the NFL. He is the most qualified GM we've probably ever had. We are already seeing that his first draft is looking much better than any of those three idiots' drafts ever looked. Your post is irrational. I get it. The Jets have driven us all crazy, but there is no curse saying that the Jets are always doomed to screw things up.

So what happens if Adams goes on to be a Hall of Famer and all of the Jets' draft picks turn out to be busts (something we have seen too many times before)? Does your A+++ grade then become an F? Just wondering how you can grade something on pure speculation?

highly unlikely, since he learned under ozzie newsome, the best GM in the league over 20 years plus.
the ravens and eagles both have done much better in the draft for decades than the jets.
in fact, the jets have Never beaten the eagles in a game that counts!
and their record against the old browns/new ravens is nothing to brag about, either.

douglas had to pick up info like a sponge working in those two places.
what did idjik or mac ever learn where they came from?

Why do you believe that what the future draft picks do makes or breaks the deal?

The deal is two 1sts and a capable player and swapping a 3rd and a 4th.

That is the deal to grade.

If using your outlook, we could easily say what if Adams breaks his leg and never plays again does this then make it an A+ times a billion trade deal, now this is speculation.

You can only grade on facts not speculation and the facts are as stated above, the fact that a lot of experts suggest we pulled the Seahawks pants down and fucked them would suggest we got a good deal.

The only people who don't think so seem to be a select group on this board.

I bet if Joe Douglas gave Adams the deal he wanted you'd be posting here that he's not Troy Palomalu.

There are plenty of things to complain about with the Jets. JD refusing to pay Jamal "burn the bridge to cinders" Adams a mega contract and then still trading him for a package that NO ONE thought possible is not one of them.

I agree with Greg Williams...Adams is a talented player who was put in a position to excel in his scheme. I think Maye is going to fill that role now and make us forget about Adams. We'll get 90% of the playmaking with 10% of the bullshit.

It isn't speculation. The trade was Adams for McDougald and the draft picks. That's the trade. Period. What the GM does with those draft picks is a totally separate matter. He can draft players with each of the picks, use them as part of a trade up in the draft, or trade part or all of them for other players. He will be judged on what he does in the draft, what he does in trades, and how he builds the roster.

The trade itself was great, not only for what he received in return, but also because no one thought he could possibly get that much.

You get 2 first rounders, a third rounder, and an above average replacement...for a strong safety. If that is not a good trade then there has never been a good trade. Plus he was going to demand a boatload of money. Personally I'm not a fan of paying a safety the lions share of our cap.

Now we have a chance to actually build a winning team.

I'll take this potential future over the one with Adams.
