You've been here since 2010 and you think me dropping one-liners before posting a training camp update tweet is trolling? Need I remind you that there is someone that is still an active poster who compared Robby Anderson to Randy Moss?
Where are you getting your offensive line rankings? LOL If you look at the pass blocking numbers: Dolphins - 28th ranked Rams - 1st ranked Bengals - 20th ranked Chargers -9th ranked Jets - 30th ranked Seahawks - 24th ranked Jaguars - 16th ranked That means that the Jets had the worst ranked passing offensive line in that list. The Dolphins are the only one that is abnormal, but as was stated above, losing Darnold for those games likely impacted our chances greatly of having a 1000 yard receiver. The only other team that stands out on that list is Seattle, but they have a Super Bowl winning Pro Bowl QB.
PFF and the last I checked an offensive lineman, especially one drafted 11th overall, should be expected to produce in both areas. That’s all part of the conversation when your reasoning for drafting a guy is “doesn’t matter who the QB is throwing to without an OL”.
And I'm happy to learn about it via Costello Tweets in August rather than sitting in front of the TV on Sunday. Let them get it out of the way in practice.
Well this isn’t just specific to the Jets, but especially the Jets… The first few weeks are going to be piss poor ugly. I’m glad we are playing some of the better teams up front because odds are we weren’t going to win those games anyway. Get the stickers out of the way and take advantage when the schedule gets a little lighter.
because everyone knows the agenda at this stage, Darnold gonna have to make due with what hes got, but hopefully he'll have some more time to make throws. I wish we improved the position as well, but it didnt happen.
I am not sure how much can be taken from a scrimmage without your top 2 WR's and barely using your #1 RB as a first team offense. We will see how the Jets offense looks when they play a tough Bills defense Week 1. Fans love to overreact, and I see many are to today's practice/scrimmage. I am a little more concerned with how the #2 offense seemed to have their way with the #1 defense, but you really can't take too much from that either.
I mean. Is it fair to just say both the offensive line and receiver talent have been atrocious? Is it also fair to say the offensive line has been worse? The general manager tried to address both. But he first chose to make sure the quarterback doesn't get David Carr syndrome. I'd rather he deal with a receiver that drops passes than a defensive tackle hitting him in the ribs every other play.
Maybe I'm a weirdo, but the only camp negatives for me are injuries, or maybe a kicker hitting half of his attempts. Other than that I look for positives - like Perrine today and Cager last week. Today's news on Perrine was in fact fantastic. Sam could go 0-30 tomorrow and it wouldn't bother me one bit.
Now granted this year is an outliner with no OTA, MC, etc. and multiple injuries + players opting out. In addition, I am surprised that the OL even lines up correctly and can execute plays. That goes for the WR group too. As Dark K stated its concerning to see our #1 D get hosed by second team O.... My concern for - oh I say about 10 years now - is what the hell is the identity of this club? We were so dysfunctional last season that I have no idea and frankly I am not sure that the HC has an answer either.
I think if Mims was gone, we woulda gotten two WR later in the draft...like Gibson maybe and Edwards? Mims was his prize, but if the gamble didn't pay off, JD would probably have taken 2 'lesser' wideouts in the next round or two. But he got Mims, so alls good!
If Sam goes 0-30 tomorrow, we're going to have to think about giving him the Chuck Knoblauch treatment and move him to left field.
So was this by design are they just taking it easy on Bell or is this Gase being Gase? We're STARVING for offensive talent and if he refuses to feature Bell he can leave today as far as I'm concerned (again maybe this was the plan to take it easy on him but I'm getting a bad feeling)
https://nypost.com/2020/08/26/jets-camp-leveon-bell-unhappy-with-his-practice-reps/ Eh.. I don't see this relationship lasting the season. I think Bell has a lot left but he's not the type of runner Jets are set up for. He should be the focal point of the offense imo
