The same as what? 2019 he had mono, beat the Cowboys, looked horrendous against the Patriots, then finished out the season strong at (6-2), (7-6) overall. I don't think he will look the same though. I think he will continue to progress and be better than ever. You are right though. If there are struggles Year 3, some vocal fans will definitely voice their opinion.
Your belief will be rewarded. It may take the oline a bit to gel... but once Sam isn't facing down immediate pressure he'll be putting up great numbers. After rewatching a lot of his play from last year I'm amazed at how often he was pressured immediately from straight up the middle. After last year's shit show at the C position - Connor McGovern might wind up being our offensive MVP. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
im sorry Sam. I didn’t mean for it to come off that way toward you. It was really directed to the beat writer who should have done more homework.
I know I was just kidding. I don’t know how the writers couldn’t figure it out if he changed before yesterday. Was he not doing any drills at all? Is he one of the 80 people hurt and not practicing?
I share the optimism over the tight end group but beware Adam Gase... from Cimini: “In 2019, the Jets finished 28th in tight end receptions (44) and used the "12" personnel grouping (one RB/two TEs) on 112 snaps, 30th in the league, per ESPN Stats & Info. research. From 2016 to 2018, when he coached the Miami Dolphins, Gase's tight ends finished 32nd in receptions (150) and utilized the "12" grouping on 413 snaps, 29th.”
I mean that’s just not normal. Between this and last year’s debacle you seriously have to wonder what’s going on in our facility with conditioning and training.
To be fair, he didn't have any TEs that were worth the targets. Mike Gesicki was only a rookie in 2018, typically TEs in their first year don't put up big #s. Herndon is probably the most talented TE, he's ever had as a HC. Urgh, one of the names on that list Julius Thomas, he was garbage the minute he left Peyton.
I was going to add that part and then also add in how the Dolphins drafted the best pass catching tight end in the nation and then turned him into a blocker. Gase leaves, that tight end more than doubles his output. But I didn’t want to get everyone all butthurt in here on a Sunday morning with two fact-based opinions that are anti-Gase
lol that’s not why you left it out. you have no problem flooding this board with anti-gase opinions geseki got better like most talented TEs do after their rookie seasons
That’s exactly why I left it out, to avoid this exact conversation. He was a rookie... how many crutches does Gase get in literally every situation?
