darnold, the TEs, and perrmiman looking good. jeff smith possible 2nd year suprise. all looking good for the O
I'm the optimistic one but it's hard to get excited about Jeff Smith. Kid has speed for days but had poor route running and not good hands IIRC. I HOPE he can improve and make an impact...Jets need all the help they can get.
Probably not, but a fellow can hope, can't he? Sooner or later we gotta start re-signing the draft picks who have the character and work ethic we want to second contracts.
Good to hear about the TE group. Really hope Herndon progresses into a top 15 TE this year. Wesco has also bulked up, and wouldn't have done so much if he wasnt asked too by the coaching staff. Hope he turns out to be a good 2nd TE that can play as a good blocker in jumbo sets. Sent from my SM-G610Y using Tapatalk
Don't we have Ryan Griffin still? Makes Wesco 3rd TE. I was thinking he's not long for Jets world but maybe he's on his way to contributing! Gase needs to show his "offensive genius" we keep hearing about. We don't have mega stars but we do have plenty of guys that can catch the ball.. even more so if Wesco is a player of any kind
route running can be taught. would be nice to hit on an UDFA. robby, cruz, chrebet, al UDFA WRs who turned out good. and we could really use the help there
yeah I could see the jets running a lot fo 2 and even 3 TE formations. or 2 TEs and wesco at FB. makes running for bell easier and with our TEs being good receiving threats as is bell the need for 3 or 4 Wr can be slim
Honestly, at the NFL level, I think you either have the innate coordination, football IQ, and explosiveness, or you don't. You can coach a few tricks and techniques, but that's nothing compared to innate quickness in and out of breaks.
The TOJ podcast yesterday talked about Cager and Campbell. It sounds like Cager has been pretty bad so far and even caused an INT yesterday with some bad route running. Campbell hasn't shown anything until yesterday but was able to make some catches against 2nd/3rd string D. They made it sound like neither is lighting the world on fire but Campbell is showing some potential, not so much for Cager.
Yeah I'm not sure what the issue was there. Didnt the Giants put a special tag on him? Either way, seems like guys with not amazing athleticism and known for sacks kinda got screwed in the offseason, or weren't in demand like they thought
That spells good for Campbell who may sneak onto the roster with his ST play being part of what he can do.
