I was making the comment for Sam Darnold's sake, not so much that of his receivers. Having a piss poor offensive line not only increases the likelihood of injury, but it also makes his job 10x harder and our offense 10x worse. Again, it is irrelevant who the wide receivers are if Sam Darnold is on his back every other play.
Well Smith would still be #3. It’s not like they would have drafted Jeudy and Mims. Jeudy could easily pull a hamstring tomorrow morning. Then what’s the difference.
I'm liking what is being said about Mount Becton so far. It's not coming from reporters either but the players. Hope for a long fruitful career with the Jets and many open holes for RB's and most importantly keeping Sam upright.
I agree. Plus, an O Lineman has a much bigger impact on the running game than the best WR. The Jets went to two AFC championships games withe a great defense and the best running game. Faneca was one of the best pulling guards. If I remember right, he was below average in the passing game. Yet the Jets went to two AFC championships games with a below average rookie and second year QB who was never that good. Those who wished that we had drafted a WR with the 1st pick don't seem to be talking about the running game, as if it didn't make any difference.
That's an excellent point, re running game. Good O-line makes holes for running back to make plays which makes opposing D man the box which then leads more chances to WRs, even if they are not that good. Excellent WR corps doesn't help with that at all when Sam spends more time on his ass than upright, then the running and passing games both suffer significantly. That's exactly what Cowboys has done the past few years. They've had an excellent line which makes room for a good running back in Elliott and subsequently their receivers get open. That's why Prescott has excellent numbers in his career, I personally don't rate him as top ten QB in the NFL but he certainly has top ten numbers, and more importantly wins.
Becton should never be on the ground. Seems like Jenkins has been giving him a crash course on the pros so far.
Wesco been having a good camp, 3 TE sets should be fun in terms of run and pass plays. Jeff Smith out there making plays too.
Remember Wesco's collegiate tape? Vicious blocker...if he can develop more as a TE, Jets maybe using more 2 TE sets. Jeff Smith was that guy who stopped on that end around go route..should have been an easy TD. He's a burner, so it's good to see if he's developing....
Agreed, for a guy who doesn't have Twitter/Facebook......I live for these updates! Thanks @BroadwaySam
No prob... sometimes I wish I didn’t have them either. But then what else would I do while working from home... work?
