I've been reading this Storm2k site and the consensus is that the high temperatures and humidity along the east coast plus the speed of the storm will allow to retain strength even as it moves inland.

    @FJF @jaywayne12

Town called and asked us to be ready for possible water surge and asked us to check our sump pumps. How will this impact New Jersey? :)

    Ok...first off hey jwws!
    Good to see you bud.
Ok...I have had a break through. It took staring at radar on and off for 6 hours...watching future winds....and here's the key...future rain totals and I have figured it out ..at least my confusion
Here's the break through ...the flooding is just to the left of the path....the high winds are just to the right of the path...makes little sense but that's it.
Tropical wind high winds to the north will get less rain...high rain totals will get less wind .
It's like two seperate storms...so check the path...if you are right of center more wind...left of center flooding rains.
Not to say flooding rains will not get decent winds or visa versa...but no area will get highest winds and highest precip totals.
I was looking at DC and wow... DC will need a boat,..but winds will not exceed 30.
Now I know that doesn't answer each question.
So let start with Morris county.
I would be more concerned with winds. 2 to 3 inches of rain?
But gusts close to 50. Maybe higher
Check out the track. Take center of track...left of that. Heavy rain solid winds. Right of that solid rain but very Gusty winds

Some storms just off our coast starting to show rotation. I expect the tornado warnings probably from 8-midnight.

And I just checked the radar here in Wilmington and we are less than an hour away from heavy winds and heavy rain...so hopefully phone sticks it out because we have above ground lives here and every bad tstorm we have lost power. So...maybe one hour left

Touchdown west of here...silence now. So far 2 have touch down.
I will say this...the ey is about 58 miles south...then we get clobbered. Then? It's over...nothing on backside. They have rain forecasted til noon...it's going to be a nice sunny day...even a sun rise. Amazing.

I have to admit...I'm a bit of a negative Nancy...when it comes to these...but I'm impressed right now.
Winds gusting in the 50's...raining sideways. It's...very impressive and I just wonder what the worst will bring. About one hour...hour and a half away.

You know...I should get paid by the hour on this site....who gives out the raises here?
Ummmm...did I just see latest advisory cat 1 with 85 mph winds?
Where did I see that written before??
(Just leave that brag alone...anyone who points out all the times I was wrong gets the boot)
Latest now 85...and with a direct hit here...I'm officially nervous...

Man, it’s quiet here in north Myrtle now. Earily quiet. Doesn’t look like there’s much left behind it.

Lol, yeah, we’ve had a few on the local news... one guy about an hour ago kayaking the waves out in the ocean. Cherry grove and garden city are both flooded from the surge; I’m sure all the vacationers are out in it.

Rain here outside of Raleigh been pretty steady for a few hours now.
It is pretty much certain that areas Just East of me and certain parts of Raleigh that flood frequency will be flooded.

Never worry too hard about the winds this far inland except for we have these useless lob lolly pine trees that have shallow roots that fall over like a house of cards when rain loosens the soil coupled with wind.

The storm surge has been more than expected all along the grand strand. It’s breached and flooded just about everywhere.
