    Per Cimini.

What a massive kick in the dick. We can’t catch a break with this guy but I absolutely respect his decision.

Wtf, I get it but cmon man you got a huge contract, didn't see the field for most of last season then opt out? He will be 3 years older than when we signed him before he does anything for this football team.

Not that it was ever a smart idea before today but now we absolutely should not cut Williamson. He’s going to have a huge role, probably going to be the playcaller on defense.

might go down as the worst signing in Jets history before all is said and done.

I have no problem whatsoever with the decision, and would probably do the same if I were an NFL player in the same situation, but this just feels like classic, same old Jets. Even when we get it right, by bringing in a guy who is supposed to be able to "change the culture" and someone who is a solid player, we get it wrong.

It's got to free up cap space, correct?

If you’re not completely numb to this then you’re just not a Jets fan.

Now we can go get Clowney for a year or two with the newly found $ ... and still have some to maybe another free agent or two.

Good thing Joe didn't cut Avery Williamson like everyone wanted.

I don’t think that’s how it works. I could be wrong but the only thing we gain is the bonus money.

Agree! Moseley turning out not good signing... He has played 2 games on that massive contract. Unfortunate. Ravens might have known something...

Do players still get paid if they opt out of the season?

I read that NE had freed up loads of $$ when all those players opted out... so I think it
    frees up cap space...

It was a bad deal from the start. We overpaid for a position that is relatively less important and he only came here because we paid him the most. I get that he’s a great player and probably a better teammate than most but it was almost impossible to play well enough to justify his contract.

Macagnan was about as bad of a GM as Idzik but he was just better at drafting in the early first round than him.

Looks like even the cap experts don’t know:

    https://overthecap.com/the-impact-of-the-covid-rules-on-the-salary-cap-and-nfl-contracts/

He says he thinks the player will only get the bonuses and the base salary goes away. That would be huge. Hopefully he’s right.

Going by that info we’d only gain $6 mil.
