Sure sounds like we haven't even bothered to reach out, at least not in a long time. And rightfully so. The only way I'd take him at this point is a one year deal for $10 mil or under.

This. I wouldn't invest in Clowney long-term right now.

I'd be happy if they got him.
He hasn't proven hes worth that. If he finishes a 3rd season under 20 tds, its conceivable the jets move on.

I'd take Clowny. Does it really matter if they pay him $12M or $15M? No. It's not like the Jets have other players looking for new deals. If anything they can shed Bell's contract next season.

Clowney lessons the Jamal Adams trade for this season and doesn't cost anything more than cap space.

I don't want to sign Clowney and I don' t think the Jets do either, but if the Jets did, you could almost add him to the trade to make it even more epic.

    Seattle Seahawks Get:
    Jamal Adams
    2022 4th Round Pick

    New York Jets Get:
    Jadeveon Clowney
    Bradley McDougald
    2021 1st Round Pick
    2022 1st Round Pick
    2021 3rd Round Pick

Cool seeing McDougald already trying to recruit for the Jets too.

I would sure as shit call him and offer him a contract.

If we sign Clowney, we would immediately erase the loss of the pass rush Adams provided. We would come out with a bunch of draft picks, a new starting safety, and a bad ass pass rusher.

    Sign me up!

The Jets owe it to Gregg Williams to sign Clowney after trading away Adams.

He just lost his biggest gun.

I think Clowney is a career underachiever so far I want him signed because of Gregg Williams. He's also a former #1 overall pick that has underachieved so much that his best football could still be ahead of him if he gets in the right situation. HERE!

He's worth a shot for the Jets.

I really think this should happen.

What a huge boost this would give our defense

  16. Clowney id be willing to take a risk on.3 yr deal even. At the end of day Jets need a legit presence on the edge & have NEEDED such forever.

This guy is still young & say what you will about his production, hes a very effective player on tape. Throw in some team friendly injury clauses to protect against his durability issues..but lock this guy up NOW.

How huge would it be to FINALLY cross edge off the list & us to be able to use those 4 first rounders on other needs, mainly help for Sam?

Lets stop overthinking it,holding out for the perfect scenario & realize this could be our best shot at fixing this need for a long time. The draft offers few opportunities & fewer guarantees when it comes to edge. In greg we trust

Forget about the scenario where Clowney just "takes" a contract from the Jets. The sad reality is this team is a mess and is probably the option 33 on 99% of free agents wishes. Yes, 33 - im sure the option to sit out is more favorable to Clowney then signing with the Jets,

Clowney would be a great pick up. He has only scratched the surface of what kind of player he could be. For once in my life I would like to see the Jets sign a player before he blows up instead of after

    Agree!

Clowney would instantly be a massive upgrade on this defense. Having a solid pass rusher is a very distant memory in Jet world. I would love to have one again, especially with Gregg Williams

I wouldn’t go three years for Clowney because we have way too much shit to take care of in house next offseason and that’s not even including (hopefully) Sam. Poole, Desir, Jenkins, Perriman, Maye... all these guys are on one year deals. Not all of them will but if they become key players, we can’t just let them walk because then we’re back at square one. If you’re bringing in Clowney for one year then you’re adding him to that list, if you bring him in for three years then you’re losing money to bring back those guys and if you bring him in at all you’re losing money that you could have rolled over.

He's just too much of a question mark for me. That being said he could easily turn into the answer we’ve been looking for but I don’t think he’s magically going to be consistently healthy and consistently produce when he hasn’t for the last few years. That being said again, the last few years he’s still been better than anything we’ve had on the edge in god only knows how long so I couldn’t exactly be upset if we bring him in as long as the deal makes sense financially for the team.
