I'm starting to think Douglas might suck like all the rest of our GMs. Strike one was that he took this job with Gase at HC, and now strike two is this dumbassery with Adams. Plus remember the Osemele fiasco?
Osemele was inherited so it wasn't really Douglas' fault he acted like a crybaby and wanted to go on IR when he was about to get benched. I'm not an anti-Gase guy and he strong armed his way into a six year contract so it's tough to blame him. That's a long deal for a first time GM. As far as Adams is concerned; I think the situation was somewhat botched too. Thinking about the locker room dynamic at the time, the horrendous start, Osemele, the line crumbling, etc. trading Adams at the deadline might've caused a real mutiny. Douglas wins this situation if he extracts another year out of Adams on this contract and deals him with only the 5th year option remaining. The past precedents set with Revis, Wilk & friends is probably why players think they can start demanding record breaking positional contracts in only year 3. We bend and do it or deal them to a team that will.
You're talking logic. The Jets have been illogical year after year. I'm not saying Douglas is a continuation of the problem, but I'm starting to see the signs of it.
Maybe someone finally told him to shut up because he has zero leverage and is just making himself look like an idiot. He's in an even worse position than Bell was when he sat a full year. Bell at least had the benefit of being on the last year of his contract and being an RB sitting a year could have only helped his overall health. If Adams wants to sit a year then he can sit again next year and completely throw his career in the trash. Heck, the Jets could even franchise him on the 6th year if they wanted to be spiteful. The guy has zero leverage, so negotiate in good faith no matter how slow they're coming along and stop being an idiot.
earnest message possibly related to training camp. Jamal Adams is seemingly ready to roll. On Monday, the New York Jets best player tweeted a positive message ahead of training camp. Over the last couple of weeks, Adams’ social media tune has drastically changed. Instead of defiance, silence has been the name of his game. Now, suddenly, he looks like he’s ready to roll for camp. Jets rookies report on Tuesday with veterans slated for July 28—the date in which all franchises will commence camp. Quarterbacks and injured players are allowed to report two days after the rooks, which coincides well with Adams’ message that football is around the corner, and he intends on reporting.
He still wants to get paid, the stunts that he pulled are nothing new. He can be a whiny melodramatic baby at times but both sides understand what's going on here
the old men on this site whine alot more than he does. i follow him and dont remember him saying anything negative or even retweeting anything negative. so i said let me go look since these yahoos are always talking about what a pos he is. looked at every tweet this month and nothing negative. definitely nothing negative about the jets or the fans. buffoons in every tweet he sends acting like children. probably the same folks that say all lives matter and refuse to wear masks.
Hes back because he found out there's no Market for him...as soon as the Vaccine arrives and things are semi normal he will demand to be paid ahead of the end of present Contract. Lets hope he doesn't start his BS in Dec/Jan if the Jets are looking a WC run
