The Jets announced on Monday night that first-round 2020 NFL Draft pick Mekhi Becton has signed his rookie deal. Becton also posted on Twitter showing his excitement as he inked his new contract. SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano confirmed that Becton’s contract is a fully guaranteed $18.45 million over those first four seasons with Gang Green. His signing bonus was worth $11 million. Becton’s signing comes the day before Jets rookies are expected at training camp in Florham Park, but he wasn’t the only signee. Third-round DE Jabari Zuniga and fourth-round QB James Morgan also signed. And so starts the journey of these rookies in New York, with Becton having the bigger spotlight due to his No. 11 overall pick status. The 6-foot-7, 364-pound tackle will most likely be a starter when Week 1 comes around with the Jets’ revamped offensive line protecting Sam Darnold. In camp, Becton should be battling free agent newcomer George Fant for that left tackle position, though he likely has the upper hand. Still, it will be fun to watch Becton – and the rest of the rookies for that matter – fight for their jobs before the season gets underway.
This is favorite Jet territory for me once he shows regular season competence. My favorite player theyve drafted in a long time.
That leaves Davis unsigned . Good work JD & the FO. No holdouts or distractions. Jamal I am sure he will show up for training camp. He has too much to lose if he holds out. 30-40k per day. And if he holds out he also loses credit for this year & we will own him for an additional year. Face it Jamal your little scheme to get a early contract blew up in your face, now suck it up for a year & put on your cleats & get on the field, & all will be well at least till contract negotiations start next year when you ask for 20+mil per year, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
of all the big dudes we signed this little white kid could have the biggest impact on the team his rookie year!
I don't want to start a new thread to ask this, so I'll just ask it here: With training camp starting tomorrow, have there really been no new articles on the Jets written in the last 4-5 days???? All the articles on the right hand side on the main page are at least 4-5 days old. I find it hard to believe that there have been no new articles.
I haven't been this excited to see a punter in action since the threat of Ben Graham unleashing a 70 yarder was a thing.
All I thought was 'Sesame Street'. I actually saw that show first-run: "One of these things is not like the others One of these things just doesn't belong Can you tell which thing is not like the others By the time I finish my song? I’m excited this guy is on the team and can’t wait to see him on the field. Btw we are all hopeless fanatics to be this worked up over a lineman
ha.... well some of us fat guys grew up as fat linemen so drafting Mehki Becton is like our version of drafting a golden boy Franchise QB
