Hehe. Got no horse in the race but you have a point. American history and anthem is all based on how they liberated themselves from the Brits and Brits who support Pats are clueless. :)

Another Brit here who started supporting the Jets in the mid 80s when Channel 4 started coverage. They were great to watch then. 51-45 sealed the deal for me.

i don't think so, this would have been around 1986 when they were still Streatham Olympians. I don't want to pay a professional to extract the repressed memory.

    Ravens

Villa Park was the site of the first British championship, between the Streatham Olympians and the London Ravens. 7,000 fans watched the London Ravens become the first British champions.

It definitely wasn't the Ravens. The London Ravens were good (in UK terms) - they used to run up scores of 50-60 points to zero many weeks. They would have destroyed the shower that I watched.

EDIT: Just done some research and I watched the Steel City Giants play a game in the Budweiser League National Division Southern Conference in 1987. They had a 0-10 record.

I used to buy First Down every week. Great paper. It was always a dream of mine, as a boy, to work on it one day.

I used to read about the London Ravens a lot when England started having lots of local teams spring up. Our local team was the Southend Sabres and I played for their junior team the Southend Wildcats. The Sabres have recently reformed as the East Essex Sabres.

I am surprised we have any international support considering how bad we have been the last. Props to everyone who still follows the team abroad, maybe one day you will wear your Jets gear with pride after we win the big one.

I started to support the Jets when we beat Miami in the OT game in the 1980s, which was on UK TV. Let's be fair it's been hell.

I used to listen to games on armed forces radio, and remember the late hit by Gastineau. The radio reception was dire and I thought we'd won.

All the holidaymakers that go to Florida adopt the Fish and women like the logo.

Pats fans are just like Man Utd fans...plastic. Most Brits do not understand what the Pats logo is either!

The Bears are popular because of the mad/brilliant 1985 team. Buddy Ryan'46, Sweetness and the Fridge.

I was at the Miracle game vs Miami and stayed to the end. That's my favourite Jet memory along with beating the Cheaters in the playoffs.

Love our GM...the future is green...

The Irony is a lot of English fans ( wont say british so you get my point ) support the Patriots for two reasons. One they are Glory hunters with no affiliation. And two, they think as the team has England in it, that it makes sense. So yes. Lack of knowledge is a real factor in that.

We didn't know. You can't select aeroplanes in The Oregon Trail game.

Half true. You couldn’t find a UK based Pats fan 20 years ago. They only attracted converts when they started winning. You’ll find US based Pats plastics too. It’s not a unique phenomenon.
