Birkenheads finest And the Friday night specialist's from the 90's They had a game in hand didn't they?
Yes, essentially that was what has demoted us. I won't say relegated. Game in hand and the teams immediately above us still to play. @donkey didn't think you'd agree with that. You'll have to settle for a league title with an asterisk next to it, like a Patriot superbowl win. In reality, the whole season should have been voided as, I believe, this would be in accordance with the existing EFL regulations at the start of the season. Clearly that's not in anyone's interest though, but I can't see any reason why a unique, one-off solution couldn't have been found that did not significantly benefit or disadvantage one team over another. Or failing that, why teams who wished to play on and potentially better their position could do so before applying PPG at the end of these fixtures for games that were outstanding and those who didn't want to play take straight PPG from their current position. It would have stopped promotion and relegation spots being a foregone conclusion before any vote and I wouldn't mind betting the voting would have been significantly different. It would have given everyone a chance, albeit a slightly different one to continuing the season. You're right about one thing for sure. The whole thing is based on money and in particular the revenue the EFL can still get in and not have to give back. Sporting integrity was never a serious consideration. The EFL having the playoff teams tested for Covid before the vote was even taken was real kick in the teeth. Their only concern as ever been getting the playoffs done for L1 and 2.
If league rules say void the season that's interesting to say the least, @MoWilkBeast. I would argue that voiding the season rewards failure and punishes success. Added to that, what to do with Bury and Bolton? What about contracts, sacked mangers? What about fans? Could we ever be sure any game we went to would count? I could see the FL on the end of a lot of fans court cases! I know you weren't arguing for that, of course. I really like the idea of playing games or using ppg, btw. Never heard of that option before. As i said in our case if we'd have played we'd have got more points, I'm sure. One last thing, though, no asterisk for us. We did nothing wrong and broke no rules.
It’s a shame really. Stop this Financial Fair Play farce. Let rich play the game however they want.
Big game for united vs Southampton . Chelsea and Leicester Losing have opened positions 3 and 4 for CL next year United has a superior GD then Chelsea too.
Villa get the 1-0 win against Arsenal to get out of the relegation zone for the minute. One game left, up by 1 goal difference above the relegation zone. Also the Championship tomorrow will be delicious. No relegations have been decided and its the last match of the season.
I wasn't going to comment but fuck it. What a load of shit, if you're a Liverpool fan then you can't have failed to notice during your successful 70's and 80's period that you were owned by a rich family that put money into the club as and when required, a significant amount for the times as well. You along with Man Utd and Arsenal rode the Sky/Champs league money-making train to your own ends, creating a closed shop all around Europe, hating when Chelsea got taken over and suddenly had enough money to match your champs league stockpiles and then the same when City came along. Not one single team wins anything without money, Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City are included in that as well. City are debt-free and exonerated btw
Massive result for us against Arsenal. It's now in our own hands, just match the results from the Watford's and Bournemouth's games and we'll be safe. I can't see Watford getting anything from the game against Arsenal, but Bournemouth has every chance to get points off Everton who has really nothing to play for and haven't been that good after the restart. Just now watching the West Ham's game against Man United, they've played well and lead after first half. It's going to be a difficult game against them on Sunday for sure.
This x100. I hate when people complain about Chelsea/City spending all this money, when their own club spent a shed load at least sometime throughout their history. Also **** FFP.
I presumed 'you' were an LFC fan so 'YOU' in that sentence was Liverpool. I also assume you're not dumb, well I know your not, so I really don't believe you didn't know fine well who the 'you' was referring to.
