For those of you with good track records in projecting collegiate OL performance to the NFL... How many years will it take for Becton to round into “Pro Bowl” or “near Pro Bowl” form? What is the probability, expressed as a percentage, that Becton will make a Pro Bowl by his 4th year? What is the probability that Becton will make 3 Pro Bowls or more? What is the probability that Becton will wind up being a fairy mediocre starter, aka a bust? Thanks ahead of time for your thoughts
Doesn’t matter what we think Jerry. A few guys whose lives depended on the decision chose him over your man crush Jeudy. So I say he has a good chance to become a Pro Bowler due to what I think of Douglas who knows more about OL than he knows about his wife.
I'm no expert on OL or any position, but I slept at a Holiday Inn Express last night and I think that Becton makes the Pro Bowl by year 3 at the latest, and I think he has an excellent chance of making it by year 2. I think there is an absolute zero chance of his being mediocre or a bust.
I’m a big believer in Darnold, too I think he is going to be very, very good Top 5-7 QB Everybody has their guy, the one they wanted the GM to take in Round 1, and it just so happened that this was the strongest I’ve ever felt about a Jets 1st round draft pick And I thought he would be Darnold’s biggest weapon for the next 12 years
I don't know about pro bowl, but I'd expect him to be the RT for at least a year or two while learning the pro game, with Fant at LT.
I’m not an offensive line expert but I don’t think anyone who posts here is. Becton’s floor is pretty high, and he has the personality that gets attention so a pro bowl is likely for him. All-Pro is a better measurement, and will he get that honor? Who knows, but often pro bowls are contests of popularity and notoriety which means the odds are more favorable for him than a guy like Andrew Thomas. My biggest fear when it came to the idea of the Jets drafting Becton is that he is so big I worry his body won’t hold up. Some guys have done it, but others haven’t. Either way I can definitely see him being a pro bowler early on, because even if my concern were to come to pass it would take a few years to get to that point.
Nobody knows what career path Mekhi Becton is going to have. Nobody knows what career path Jerry Jeudy is going to have. Honestly given that both of those things are true I think it's kind of ridiculous that we would spend any time speculating on the issue. It's a wasted effort that leads nowhere.
i would suggest that anyone thinking WRs are can't miss just re-visit some of the past several year's drafts. There is a lot of disappointment even when people were picked higher than 11 Then add that ones who actually produced well (e.g., Amari) want 20 million. It's a really tough way to build a team even if they come through and deliver
I bet he achieves all that is in question faster than Jerry Jeudy. Add into the mix that LT is more important to this team than a WR who probably adds nothing more than Mims will add
His numbers in his rookie year looked pretty good. 4 and 1 in 5 starts, good completion percentage, good TD to INT percentage. Big arm. I wasn't a believer coming out but his limited production so far says he might be very good.
