Moss is damaged goods. He will get hurt a lot, I think That QB in Denver sucks so I think Jeudy will not have the success that he should’ve/could’ve had.
I'm quite happy with our draft, but since others are putting up drafts and I've commented on them, to be fair, I'll put one up so people can comment on mine. With the way the draft fell and barring a trade down, these are the players I would have taken. 11 - Mekhi Becton, OT 48 - Chase Claypool, WR 68 - Damien Lewis, IOL (Josh Jones would have been very tempting, but with Becton, Fant and Edoga, it would have been overkill, and still wouldn't have addressed the interior OL in the draft) 79 - Bryan Edwards, WR 120 - Alton Robinson, Edge 158 - Bryce Hall, CB (but would have had a hard time passing on Tyler Johnson and Collin Johnson) 191 - Braden Mann, P 211 - Anthony Gordon, QB In reality, I would have taken Gordon before Mann, but since Douglas took Mann at #191, I thought it fairest to leave Mann there.
Needed a franchise OT and Douglas is banking on Becton to be that guy. So no qualms whatsoever with that pick especially with such a deep WR draft. Now that's where my problem lies. With such a deep WR draft, the Jets missed out on wayy too many guys who I think will contribute around the league next year like Tyler Johnson, AGG and a few others. All anyone talked about coming into this draft was the need to add a lot of skill position upgrades. Douglas didn't do enough of it. We'll see how it pans out but it was a major missed opportunity.
That's what makes this thread and site interesting. We don't have to agree. As much as I want to upgrade our WR corps, I don't want just a big body. Any WR that sticks on our roster I want to be over 6'2", have good speed, athleticism and good hands. I don't care if they're a 7th round pick or a UDFA. As great a route runner as Van Jefferson is, I didn't want him. IMO he's too short and not fast enough for what I want to see at WR. I understand why you would like Jennings.
My “Nostradamus” attempt Jedrick Wills will end up being the bust of the top 15. Cleveland will try to move him to Left Tackle since they signed Conklin and he will struggle
If that is the case, then I am definitely happy Becton was available. I would have been pissed for sure. And I like Henderson.
If it's any consolation, his only legitimate injury of worry was a torn meniscus that was suffered getting into bed. He's still only missed four games in three years as a starter.
He was a two year starter blocking for one of the best rushers in NFL history. Maybe the injury looked worse than we know, but we don't really know much about it other than that it happened. Farm boy tough, he's a road grading center. Have you ever seen him play live? He moves bodies out if the way.
I do this every year, while the draft is going on, simply so that I can continue to convince myself that I know more about football than the Jets Front Office. I've got a list going back to 2006. Anyways, here's what I would have done this year ... Round 1 11 Tristan Wirfs OT Iowa Round 2 59 Josh Jones OT Houston Round 3 68 Zach Baun OLB Wisconsin Round 3 79 Lynn Bowden WR Kentucky Round 4 120 Tyler Biadasz C Wisconsin Round 4 125 Bryce Hall CB Virginia Round 4 129 Bradlee Anae OLB Utah Round 5 158 Tyler Johnson WR Minnesota Round 6 191 Thaddeus Moss TE LSU And yes, I would have taken Josh Allen last year.
Yes, I've seen him play, but he's not a zone blocking fit. He isn't athletic/mobile enough. That's not his forte.
I wasn’t crazy about the James Morgan pick, still aren’t. However I would’ve been downright angry if the pick was Fromm. At least with Morgan there is hope that he can be developed and later traded for a 2nd/3rd rd pick. With Fromm you’d just be hoping he never ever saw the field.
Think what you could have had if you had the balls to wait for Josh Jones in round 3 and made another selection in round 2
Round one: Sqeeze two third rounders (# 83 & # 95) out of the Broncos for pick # 15 Round one pick # 15 Cee Dee Lamb WR Oklahoma Round two pick # 48 Trevon Diggs CB Alabama Round three pick # 68 (from Giants) Terrell Lewis OLB Alabama Round three pick # 79 Bryan Edwards WR South Carolina Round three pick # 83 (from Broncos) Matt Peart OT Connecticut Round three pick # 95 (from Broncos) Harrison Brant TE Florida Athletic Round four pick # 120 Bryce Hall CB Virginia Round five pick # 158 Netane Muti G Fresno State Round six pick # 191 Prince Tega Wanogho OT Auburn Round six pick # 211 Nate Stanley QB Iowa
You wouldn't have drafted a single legitimate receiver before the 5th? You must have some serious faith in Josh Doctson.
Receivers are nonsense luxury. If you have a QB and you can protect him, you can have a top-notch offense with receivers off the street. Look at the Patriots.
In hindsight, if I absolutely 100% knew Jones would be there with the third pick, I might have taken Fulton (CB from LSU), but I still probably would have taken Baun.
