For arguments sake you are missing some quotes about when left Miami and the players who spoke up... If you are going to quote players who like him some of those spoke out against him as well. You dont have to be liked to be a good coach. A little fear goes a long way in leadership but clear communications is a key and the jury is out on that one

I dont like the guy not because he can be an ahole but because I think for an offensive genius his offenses have finished in the bottom of the league for multiple yrs and that alone should have held him out of contention for the job as head coach

quotes from ex players when he was fired

Boy look at all these offensive players coming out in gushing support of him... it’s probably easy to like him when you’re playing for a great coordinator on the opposing side of the ball.

I don't know how anyone can take Landry seriously when he talks shit on every HC he's played for at the next level (cept Gregg Williams). Phillips is probably the only guy with any sort of validity, even so the Bills didn't resign him

So my post addresses Landry. He hates all of his coaches. Jordan Phillips makes sense; Gase cut him mid-season. I see no one else really wanted to out their name to any quotes. Send em over if you find them.

Eight offensive players, six defenders and one offensive coach. Do you have a hard time counting?

As a charter member of the Fire Gase Club, I have to say him not playing with his kids or his dog is completely irrelevant to me. He could be wearing a Hannibal Lecter mask and sitting in his underwear for all I care, but if he doesn't figure out how to utilize the abilities of his players, and plan to their strengths, he needs to go.

I couldn't care less how many quotes there are from players who say they like him. As dumb as some players are, they're not that stupid to publicly trash a HC. More importantly though is, regardless of if they like him or not, the ONLY measurement is whether he gets the most out of them and creates a good team. On that key measurement Gase has failed so far. Hopefully it will change this year, but until it does, he;s a poor HC.

On the flip side. As the Jets HC he took a historically poorly put together team. That crappy assembled team was decimated with a sick QB and injuries. He held it together and pulled a 7 and 9 record out of his ass, got the shitty, entrenched GM shit canned and got us a GM in the mold of Ozzie Newsome. He and Douglas worked their ass off during the offseason to put together an organized and professional offseason. Sam goes into his second year in the same offense, more weapons, more protection.

Seems like he has changed a lot since getting out from under Ross.

He gets a lot of undocumented credit for being responsible for getting Macc fired. I have no doubt he had input, but to nominate him for sainthood because of this is ridiculous. For all anyone knows, Chris finally woke up based upon input for Gase and OTHERS, not because Gase fired him. And yes, I know that's not what you said, but based upon the comments many have made in this regard, that's the inference.

As for "...got us a GM in the mold of Ozzie Newsome", again he didn't hire Douglas. No doubt he had input, but if Chris and Woody didn't persist and open the bank vault wider and extend the contract to 6 years, Douglas wasn't coming here to be with his "best friend".

That 7-9 record could've - really should have - been better, even with Sam missing 3 games and the injuries. It was an historically weak schedule, and yet Gase couldn't even figure out how to beat two winless, hapless teams that were all but tanking. His inability to adjust to the players he actually had, and the other team's moves during games showed that he clearly is not HC material.

And what HC doesn't "work their ass off during the offseason"? But no matter how hard he worked, if he doesn't produce it on the field he needs to go. Note, I didn't say he has to have a winning record - although that would be ideal - but they had better be competitive in every game and not lose games they should win.

Until he proves it on the field, he still looks the same to me.

I didn't nominate him for sainthood. Fact is we had a shit roster. We had terrible injuries and he held it together. 7 and 9 with that team was a very good job.

Firing him would be amazingly stupid. He gets at least 3 years before you even consider firing him. That's this year and next.

Douglas doesn't come near this shit show without Gase.

Landry last year during the Cardinals game gave up. He's a punk and if Gase ran him out it was the right thing to do.

Only because he was also on the list and “system” seems to be an issue with Gase...

We can't have it both ways. Most everyone here has been very effusive in their praise of Joe Douglas. Well part of the reason Joe Douglas came here is because of his respect for and willingness to work with Adam Gase.

It's intellectually dishonest to proclaim that we finally found a GM who knows how to do things right but then assume that GM is willing to join an organization that will be looking for a new coach in a year or two.

JD got a 6 year contract from the Johnson's...

Do we not think that he could've gotten AG fired if he so chose?

As long as JD has faith in AG - so will I.

I really do think a lot of people are trying to pull the wool over their own eyes because they don't want to believe that a year after the Jets FINALLY land themselves a potential franchise QB, they went and hired a coach that has produced 5 straight dogshit offenses a few weeks after being fired by a division rival. All while telling Matt Rhule he couldn't bring in his own staff while we let Adam Gase bring in dynamite Darrell Loggains. I wish we didn't either, trust me.

    A few things here...

I don't doubt that football people respect Adam Gase because he's a psychopath that has let football run his life to the point of almost missing a child's birth. He loves football and he's dedicated his life to it. Any GM in their right mind should appreciate that. But that doesn't always translate to the field and for Gase it hasn't almost ever.

JD got a 6 year contract which probably has a lot do with his faith in Gase... almost as much as his actual faith in Gase does.

I'm rooting for the team. Gase is the HC. I'm rooting for Gase. If the needle starts trending down reassess. I thought we ended last year on an up trend on a season that had Titanic written all over it. I like the offseason. I like the vibe coming from management and how Sam ended the season.

I have nothing to forgive him for. I didn't decide he sucked the day he was hired.
