Maye was drafted in 2017. He has a four year contract that runs from 2017-2020. This is exactly why I do this, to look at the future of the team.
I would suggest listing the guys with expiring contracts at the bottom of the original post. The RFAs and EFRAs should be noted. Just my two cents.
I think we had this discussion during last year's offseason regarding Cannon. He is arguably our best ST player and therefore has a good chance of being on the roster this year but given his health issues is it likely he makes the 2021 team as our gunner? I think it depends on his health and on whether or not we still have Boyer if we change the HC this off-season. I agree the likelihood is Cannon will not stay healthy but he there is still a decent possibility he is able to stick and carve himself out a roster spot each year as our gunner but he needs to show durability. We are going to need a gunner with Cannon's speed this year if our new punter can really kick the ball as far as people say. The ST team standout that stands the best chance of being cut this year is Gase's guy Bellamy. If healthy Winter's might be our likely starter at RG. There have been reports for awhile that JD wants Winter's to take a paycut. I think it it is likely they all go into training camp and fight for the spot. If Winter's does not win it then he gets cut.
What about Jordan Jenkins, wouldn’t he be a UFA ? If he continues his upswing JD may try to resign to a longer deal and lock down one of the OLB spots.
We have a gunner now who may be faster than Cannon in Davis. With Bell being older and his skills possibly diminished, I think there is less and less chance that Cannon sticks because he's good on STs, especially when we have young prospects who are good at RB.
I agree time is not on his side but I think health is his biggest issue. When healthy he is our best ST player. His problem is staying healthy. We are going to need all the kick cover guys we can get with this new punter and his alleged super leg. Hopefully we will be punting a whole lot less this year.
Finally done with FA’s. Glad I did it because I had missed a couple guys who will still be under contract.
