The teams that have long term sustainability in this league are the ones that trade back. The true value in the draft is in the late second through the end of the fourth. Cheaper contracts, still good players and usually the talent drop off isn't as drastic as everyone thinks. We need to continue to build the foundation here. This wasn't the draft to build for next year. It was a draft to build the roster.
My guess is we're letting him walk at the end of the season barring a significant performance boost. We've now got a solid number of pieces to mix and match on the OL unless he establishes himself as a clear cut starter over the other guys at his position, but Douglas doesn't want to start a line that's almost all rookies / unproved 2nd year players (Edoga?). Joe Douglas has generally structured all his contracts to preserve cap flexibility after this season. With Bell a likely cap casualty as well, this is likely at worst a move that allows a future cut of salary-cap fat.
Since the jets pick not one wr or cb have gone off the board. Relax, obviously multiple guys we like at both positions are still out there!
Sorry I just can’t understand it. Seems unfathomable that people do it. I mean don’t you get sweaty? And then they fall of and you have one on one off. There’s less upside than taking Morgan in the fourth.
I just watched that long TD pass he threw against UMass. lol! I'm into it. I'm not sure how much of a priority it was but our QB room just got a hell of a lot better and more dynamic in my opinion.
No one is “freaking out”. It’s called discussion. Any football fan knows the draft is a crapshoot. Based on what I believe from watching the team last season, these last couple of picks could have been better. Just an opinion. And, of course, only time will tell
Agree. It's a 4th round pick. At a position with no backup and still a completely unproven Sam Darnold. I think Darnold will be our franchise QB for years and years, but it is true, he has not really proven himself as of yet, much of that is because of the line and weapons. Not upset about this pick
The film of Clark looks good. He has those dancing bear qualities. Team captain, offensive MVP. He looks a bit bigger than 308 too. A little stiff but he will be coached up in year one.
The only thing I can think of as to why we aren’t taking any of these receivers is they must really think Doctson can be a possession type guy and Perriman can be more than just a deep threat. We still have to come away with one of the big bodied guys. No excuse not to.
You have to wonder if the Jets like some small school - sleeper WR... they passed on a lot of guys we all thought could contribute/play.
My son goes to Charlotte - Cam Clarj My son goes to Charlotte, from what I hear this is a real quality kid character wise with a lot of upside potential. Love the fact that we will be having a lot of new faces competing on OL with Fant and the other FA pick ups. I am not sure about all the bad feelings about Morgan - jets needed a backup QB desperately and we are not getting a starting CB or a WR that much better than we can pick up later. I am really liking this draft.
We went offense with the 3 picks on 4th round. I wanted RB, WR and OL and we got a RB, QB and OL. After reading up on players I love all 3 picks. All great character guys. All underrated so far. Out of the 3, I like the OT Clark the most, Our new RB is also team captain like OT Clark. Good good. Jets locker room should be dynamite in no time.
