http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=cc-sixpoints121706&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Heart of a lion By Cris Carter, Yahoo! Sports December 18, 2006 Jets bounce back Last week, I thought I had torn my hamstring by jumping off the Jets' bandwagon, but my doctor said it was only a strain. After the loss to Buffalo, we said let's forget about Eric Mangini for coach of the year. But now you have to throw him back in the mix because of what he has done with this team given its limited personnel. That definitely was an impressive win in Minnesota. From start to finish, the New York Jets physically dominated the game. And Minnesota, which was very much in the NFC wild-card hunt, got totally outclassed. At 8-6 with that personnel, I can't say that anyone has done a better job coaching this year than Mangini.
That's how it is with the media as far as this team. They talk nice when things are going well but as soon as the team trips up, everybody jumps off the wagon. I guess that comes with being a middle of the pack team.
Well, at least Carter admitted he jumped off the bandwagon. I can respect that, if not the knee-jerk reaction.
as long as peter king doesn't hop on -- he is soo damn heavy he stops it compltely this just goes to show you how many professional analysts just know what they see in the highlights and read on the web ... if they did any research they would be able to make more solid predictions and have a clue from week to week
I do agree with you, but you never know. The feel good story of the year in New Orleans will probably corroborate the case of having Sean Payton be COY. Mangini deserves it if we win out, but he wont necessarilly recieve it.
I'm rooting for him too, but don't forget Jeff Fischer (that how you spell it?) has done a nice job with the Titans and Sean Payton and the Saints.
Hmm or maybe it's just that the NFL is ridiculously hard to predict and you couldn't do a good job of it, either. Also, these guys aren't handicappers. You could be right though. However, you're wrong.
I still don't understand why the media percieves us to have such little talent. At the start of 2005 we were supposed SB contenders, then we get a shitload of injuries, make some changes and all of a sudden we have no talent. Obviously we have some talent if we're competing at a solid level in a tough conference.
In my opinion the only contenders for coy are payton, fischer and mangini. If the saints end up getting into the superbowl or winning i think its hard for mangini to win.
They have a justified way of thinking, when they think like that. They think like that because our younger guys were not developing at all, and we do not have a game changing QB, a game changing running back and no ferocious passrusher. You figure to win in this league you need 1 of the 3.
