Since I don't know where I should post this, I'll post it here.

    =====================================

Stay healthy, folks. I know we have overall older population here in this forum. We are more at risk than spring chickens. So - stay healthy.

    1. Unless otherwise you MUST go, just stay home. Yes. STAY HOME. That's the best thing you can do to yourself.

    2. If you definitely have to go out, make sure you wear a mask, and get a disposable gloves on your hands. [Do not believe the bullshit about masks being useless. They are life savers. I mean it.]

    3. When you get back home, make sure you wash your every exposed areas. Face and hair definitely, and hands just in case. You should make sure you lather them with shampoos and soaps et al. Cover the entire area and keep them on for good 20 seconds before washing them away.

    =====================================

I will not get political over this issue (even though I can, and that is fully warranted.) I hope you follow suit at least on this thread. We will have plenty of time and chances to do that once we are out of this mess.

Just stay safe and healthy everyone. We will get through this, and will come out of this crisis stronger.

The mask thing is BS unless:
    1) You are wearing one 24/7
    2) You have it on your face correctly
    3) Do not need adjust or readjust it with your hands

It does more harm than good if you don't do any of the three things properly. Oh, and the people wearing masks that are for dust and lint are the best. Like that actually does anything..

At the last Task Force briefing, Trump/Fauci said we are moving toward a day when masks will required

Right now, even Trump said "wearing a scarf would be highly advisable" when you go out in Public

The fact is if you are Asymptomatic, a mask/scarf prevents you from transmitting it to others (the Goal they are trying to reach)

Unless you have an N95/Shield a bandanna or cloth mask doesnt give you immunity you still have to practice social distancing

With all due respect, do you even understand how this virus propagates? I doubt that.

    1. When we breathe and talk, we let out water vapors.

    2. The vapor droplet diameter is not uniform, of course. The risky ones are the large spray droplets, whose diameter ranges over 0.1mm and beyond. That's the target we are after; they are the virus carrier. The reason we have installed that 6-feet social distancing is specifically because these large spray droplets can't reach beyond 6 feet even if the spray droplet is fired from a violent cough.

    3. Unlike other covonavirus variants, Covid-19 targets ACE2 protein, which is more expressed in the older population (1) and people with underlying health conditions, such as hypertension and diabetes (2)

    4. Also, as Covid-19 targets ACE2 protein, this necessarily means covid-19 is usually at work in upper respitory system (deep inside your nasal cavity), but not deep down in lung. That's the infection route.

    5. Thus, it stands to reason that, if we stop this large spray droplets, we should be well on our way to the containment. That's where social distancing and masks and et al comes in.

    6. Even crude scarf on your face stops 66% of the large spray droplets coming your way. Cheap surgical masks do a little better (75%) and certified N95 masks stop up to 99%.

    7. Masks are physical barriers - it stops the spray droplets going both ways. Ad hoc home made mask (or just plain scarf for that matter) don't do much. It lets out 90% of your droplets out of the world. But a cheap surgical masks stop 50% of them, while N95 masks stops 75% of them.

    8. And these days, even the cheap surgical masks come with a wire frame at the top of the mask, which you can bend to fit the curvature of your face and nose ridges.

    9. So stop feeding the bullshit. Masks DO work, and we need them now. If at all, think of it as a public courtesy. You may not feel sick, but there is always that little chance that you could be the potential asymptomatic virus carrier. Do it not just for yourself, but for those around you.

I am more of [better safe than sorry] kind of person - that's why. Hell, I blast lysol spray to all the doorknobs once every week these days. [Yes. That's being stupid. I know. But I do it anyways. :)]

P.S. Stay home, and stay healthy.

When majority of people who wear masks are doing it like this -- Yeah, it doesn't do anything.

Like I originally said. If you are 1) wearing it properly and 2) can avoid constantly readjusting it with your hands (that are most likely dirty), then fine. Wear the mask. Majority of the people don't do 1 and 2 well, so it is pointless!

    1. Their mouths are covered at least. [That's where the cough is coming out from.] So they are doing that half right. Half right is better than NONE right.
    2. Are they even practicing proper social distancing? Anybody? One snapshot of people doing not a damn thing does not necessarily mean masks do not work. They do work - even though the mileage might differ. But it WILL work. So - again, stop feeding the bullshit.

I'm not sure if you are still working or not, but I have been out on the road travelling and working ever since the shutdown came into play. Let me tell you that the amount of people who are wearing a mask incorrectly and then lower it with their hands just to pull it back up over their mouth/nose is absurdly high. The people who are using it correctly, great. You are doing an awesome job, but there are way more people who are 1) wearing it incorrectly and 2) constantly readjusting it on their face than those who are wearing it properly and following proper protocol with it.

If being a realist and telling you what I'm seeing with my own two eyes over the last two weeks is feeding the bullshit then I don't know what to tell you.

It's not being realistic. It's being stupid. Difference is clear and wide.

    1. I KNOW there are ton of people wearing the mask incorrectly.
    2. I am saying [THAT IS BETTER THAN NOTHING.] What part of this message is that difficult to understand? Maybe you could post up a youtube video about [how to wear the mask correctly] if that is such a concern for you, no? Or this kind of video would be more helpful too.

Wearing it incorrectly isn't beneficial at all if you still need to take your hands and touch your face to readjust it. You aren't supposed to be touching your face at all. You are acting like you are a Covid19 expert and yet, you can't seem to put 2+2 together that wearing a mask incorrectly and having to readjust it with your hands means you are touching your face. I CAN TALK IN CAPS TOO IF YOU WANT IT DOESN'T MEAN YOU ARE RIGHT

Like I said - there are two parts that the mask does. It a) stops from contaminating yourself. It can be flawed if not worn correctly. It b) also protects others around you, by catching YOUR spray droplets. (The part you are completely ignoring, either willfully or inadvertently.) Wearing the mask incorrectly does not stop the latter half. Which is why I am saying IT STILL WORKS. You either can't see anything past yourself, or you are not willing to help those around you. Either way that makes you a tool.

You know nothing about me so you can go fuck yourself with the name calling. I ignored it the first time, but you have to go back to it again. I have supplied my employees (33 of them to be exact) with masks + gloves for well over two weeks. They all have personal hand sanitizer and their work stations are marked with tape to note the 6 foot distance that is required at the moment for social distancing. I don’t agree and believe in the masks if they aren’t being used properly. If it makes them feel safe and comfortable to be able to come to work everyday then I have no problem with it. It doesn’t mean I think it works.

Aren’t first responders and medical professionals complaining about a dire shortage of masks? I’d rather not encourage the average idiot to further deplete the supply if they’re not using them effectively.

Elon Musk needs to make cheap spacesuits for everybody. The full body kind that include a bubble helmet and everything. He can sell them like he sold the flamethrowers, to prop up one or more of his cash-bleeders during what is likely to be a huge fiscal crunch.

You were spreading false information. Without presenting any valid reasoning. (I have presented why we need one on ourselves, even when we are wearing them in incorrect way.) That's why I called you out. Know that I don't like doing that. Especially people that I consider good posters (like yourself.) I wouldn't have done it if the situation weren't dire as it is now.

I am glad that you were taking necessary precautions. Kudos to you. That said - we need more masks.

I believe DPA only hit GM? And it will take some time to start mass producing ventilators. As for Elon Musk, I think he is going to start mass producing ventilators (or so I heard.)

I believe 3M is increasing their mask production but these are expensive N95 masks, I think. As for the cheaper alternative, (simple surgical masks) I have yet to hear any news about it. I still have to wonder why DPA is not in full steam by now.

Spacesuits would be better. You can fit them with a smoke reinhaler and make the bong hits really last!!!

By the way thanks for the video Zach. Are you a doctor or something so we can ask our dumb questions? :)
