Must mean Williamson is out. Doubt that the jets will be able to trade Williamson, especially since other teams know the jets are not going to play/pay him.
Kyle Phillips as DE, Fatukasi as DT, Quinnen Williams as DT, Henry Anderson as DE. Both ends have great wingspans, Anderson is quicker than he gets credit for, remember that a 3-4 DL is only responsible for taking on OL, not pressuring the QB, putting Q and Fatukasi in middle as pass rushers will generate pressure from the inside giving the outside guys more one on one opportunity’s. We have plenty of LB that can fill Sam, Mike and Will spots. I would definitely give this rotation a chance, I know it’s a little too much to ask for with different gap assignments but it’s something I would like to see. If it doesn’t work go back to 3-4 responsibilities and ask the DL to simply take on blockers and let LB try to make plays.
We are assuming at this point that Williamson, Mosley and the rookie are fully recovered and good-to-go or will be by the beginning of the season. I wonder if that is the case or someone or two might start the season in IR?
No. Not @ all. Gregg Williams will not allow that to happen. We were robbed of seeing a duo of Mosley/Williamson last year.
I don't think anyone knows but Douglas and Gase. I think there is probably some concern regarding whether he is healthy and will be fully recovered this year, and they may need the cap space. I was surprised they signed Onwuasor since they have Hewitt, Chapman and Burgess.
Can't say I never heard of the guys. But I trust Douglas...and I trust guys from a franchise like Baltimore. Looks like he has some ability to get to the QB...hopefully he can flourish here. Hopefully we have ourselves a contributor
Maybe Onwuasor was a guy they always liked/coveted in some respect and didn't expect him to get cut (was he cut recently?) and when they saw he was out there decided to jump on it before another team did. Sometimes you just gotta get your player and worry about the logjam later
He was originally undrafted, and after a big 2018 the Ravens expected him to be good in 2019. For reasons I haven’t read up on yet, that didn’t happen apparently. He was an unrestricted free agent coming off of a down year.
He's kinda light at 230. Cashman is another light inside linebacker. Maybe one of them will go outside. I don't know how fast this guy but he had 5 sacks from the inside when he played with Mosley.
I think Onwursar was signed as a OLB(whatever success he has experienced has been playing outside - not inside) and thus he was signed seemingly to compete/backup Jenkins & Basham - and for special teams
I don’t think that is accurate at all. His best year he played along side CJ Mosley as the Will Linebacker in a 3-4 base defense. He is 6’ and 225 lbs. there are undersized guys who play 3-4 OLB but this guy is a no-way no-how sized guy.
he is an inside backer. he cannot play the outside because he's too small to set the edge. He will play inside next to Mosley and shoot gaps or drop back in coverage. Like a better version of Darron Lee
