Ugh that blows. Copeland was a nice rotational piece and not only is he not back with us, he’s with them.

Yesterday Seattle had been working with Clowney on a deal for $18.5 million.

Now it's down to the Jets and Titans?

Who reported that it’s down to the Jets and Titans? And if it is, that’s a pretty easy decision for Clowney. A playoff team playing for his old DC or the Jets playing under Gase.

Because the delusional fan base said it is, free agency in Jets land is always a hilarious period.

Titans went 9-7 last year and aren't quite the lock to return to the playoffs moving forward.

You may say it's a no brainier to pick Tennessee over the Jets. But it's not.

To pass up an opportunity as an outside pass rusher to play alongside the likes of two MLB's on the inside in C.J Mosley/Avery Williamson with an extremely talented and young Quinnen Williams out of Alabama on the D-Line heading into his 2nd season, with Marcus Maye in deep zone coverage along with an All-Pro and absolutely dominant defender in Jamal Adams roaming the entire defense while Gregg Williams calls your number to attack and pressure opposing Quarterbacks as an OLB? That's not an easy situation to turn down for Clowney.

    Jamal Adams.
    Marcus Maye.
    C.J Mosley.
    Avery Williamson.
    Quinnen Williams.
    Jadeveon Clowney.

Instantly becomes a more dangerous defensive unit than N.E & Buffalo under Gregg Williams.

And with Sam Darnold as an up and coming Franchise QB I could easily see Jadeveon Clowning selecting N.Y over Tennessee as an attraction in order to resurrect his playing career within his prime years.

Joe D is leading a solid offseason so far--using free agency to address depth and making groups better, rather than trying to get just one splash signing. IF he drafts well--this approach will work in keeping us competitive in the long haul. That's the big if.

I've gotta agree. I was one who was calling for big name O-Lineman but I like his approach picking up O-Linenman with some starting experience under their belts and ones who haven't committed a lot of penalties (shows me he's looking for disciplined O-Lineman).

And outside of Robby Anderson/Jordan Jenkins he's done a nice job bringing back some of our own players.

I won't lie though. I want Jadeveon Clowney as our one big FA splash really bad. And I can tell JD would like to have him too (but for what price is the question).

More cap space can be gained if he really wants to sign more players. Of course, that would be gained by cutting players, which would create holes.

The following players could be cut/traded:

Brian Winters - cap savings $7,281,250, zero dead money
Josh Bellamy - cap savings $2,250,000, zero dead money
Avery Williamson - cap savings $6,500,000, $2,000,000 dead money

Thanks. Brian Winters kind of stands out unless he renegotiates.

Bellamy has to be going soon.
Winters I think takes a pay cut to stay
Williamson I doubt they cut, not with Mosley coming off injuries too.

Do you think Winters will take the pay cut? If he does, fine, keep him as depth, but he isn't worth anywhere near $7 million per season.

You're probably right regarding Williamson. I was just pointing out that if Douglas really wanted to come up with more cap space, that's where he could find some.

I agree if they're willing to sign reasonable deals. It doesn't seem like they are.
