I don't like Tampa Bay but of those two options Brady picked the much better one. If Tampa Bay signs Robby to go with that other receiver they have there what's his name? With Arians I'll begin to like Brady's chances of succeeding there more.
Rivers failed to get it done with prime L.T and Gates with some really good WRs over the years. A couple of different coaches too. The Chargers have been loyal to Rivers for many of years now. He's rich because of them too. Set for life. They want to move in another direction hopefully their next QB of their future can win them a SB within his 1st 15 or so years...
I guess they figured finally putting butts in the seats in Tampa was worth it..... but yeah, close to 2 mil per sunday is a pretty good haul Who was it that said "They pay me to practice... sundays I play for free"?
This is the only kind of contract that makes sense for a 43 year old player. Whichever year he decides he wants to stop it will have zero effect on the Bucs cap that year. If the Bucs decide they want to move on, zero effect on the cap after this season, since I am guessing this year's $30M is guaranteed.
Sure is. I didn't see this coming at that price. I don't get it, to be honest. Of the three old QB's that "got paid" yesterday (Brees, Rivers, Brady) I can understand Brees since the money is coming from the team he has made successful. The others? No way. The money amount is ridiculous - especially with everything else going on in society right now, in this wounded economy. It's a little nauseating to be honest. But that is the NFL.
Brady will no longer be under the protection of the Cheats so I doubt he finishes the season in TB. My guess is he takes a beating and gets injured by game 6. Meanwhile the Cheats win the AFC East again.
Because Raymond James Stadium is usually empty .... maybe they figured the draw of TB was worth it... but yes, I agree the whole thing is a turnoff.
If Brady has anything left in the tank this was a great move. TB has a terrific young D and an O that can score from anywhere on the field. They had an amazingly tough schedule and Winston was a turnover machine for them. Two dome teams in the division, 8 games at home in relatively warm conditions and Carolina isn't too bad. Much easier to throw the ball than in the AFC East. Arians is also a lot of fun. Polar opposite of BB. It all depend on Brady not being completely shot.
I feel like this is an under discussed portion of this. I wonder if at least part of his decisions was based on getting out of the BB pressure cooker and playing for someone who will let football be fun again.
If he has something in the tank the Bucs are going to be very good. Arians is very good. I don't think Brady has any issue with a pressure cooker environment that's all about winning. That's who Brady is. I have no doubt both BB and Brady resent the fact that each is in the others shadow to a certain extent.
I was thinking if the NFL cancels the 2020 season Brady would be 44(?) by the time the 2021 season begins with almost a two years layoff. Dude could be 100% washed up on arrival in Tampa Bay.
